Well finally got through to them today. I am claiming on two accounts. first account they said letter had been sent out on 28th June with an offer of £544 (original claim £1138) so this is less than 50% which I am not too happy about.

On the other account they said a letter has been sent out today with an offer of £1417 (initial claim £2860) which again is just about 50%.

I am tempted to accept both just to finish the whole saga, but I am a little disappointed that both claims dont reach 50%.

BUT ultimately I never thought I would get anything back so anything is a bonus:o

What now, do I go back to them and see if they can up it. Can they rescind the offer totally?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I got the standard 50% offer, I phonedthe number on the letter and said that I was not happy they asked how much I would except , I said 100% or I go to court and will claim the intrest . i was offer the full 100% which I accepted they sent a letter out 2 days later confirming the offer

You really should be doing this with paper work as you have no back up if the bank dosnt settle up due to a phone call

Now you worrying me.... have you heard from cases where this has happened? That the bank did not pay out follwing a verbal offer?

Just to re-ask after my post got drowned in others.

Looking to claim on 4 seperate Hailfax accounts 2 mine, 1 partners and 1 joint. Can I claim via one letter or does it have to be indivdual letters/requests for each account. (got charge info and it around £2600 plus interest)

    Look forward to a reply

    Thanks

Hi cliff , As you have 4 different account numbers you stand more chance of success if you claim for them individually.Hope this helps.

    Hi all,

I spoke to Richard earlier, (he does seem a nice bloke to all those who've said this) he's to pass my file to a colleague and I should hear next week. Question is my file hadn't been looked at as of today, so how long will it take to hear something now I've spoken to 'good guys' of Halifax?

I'm hoping to have a offer and of course I will be haggling upto my full charges less interest (or all if possible).

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me.....I am going through MCOL trying to claim back £5020 which includes the court costs. Halifax have acknowledged it and now have up to the 15th. However, last week i decided to call the 01977 number and was told i would receive an offer through the post. I had a letter 2 days letter from a Rachel Barker who said that she couldn't find any evidence of me ever having any charges!!!!!! I explained that i'd previously requested them, sent them with my letter requesting for the money to be repaid etc, etc. she advised me to go to my local branch and ask them to fax them to Nexus who would then fax them onto her computer system and once she's received them she'll make an offer. Today i rang her after taking several hours to get through and she said that she hadn't got them yet.
I think she's just fobbing me off and i can't be bothered to speak to her anymore, it's so frustrating. I shall wait till the 15th and hope the money is paid into my account by then rather than the Halifax asking to set a court date.

What does anyone think about this? Has anyone else had this problem?

    Thanks for your advice.

    Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if it has taken the full 14 days for your refund to be put into your bank account. I rang and settled for almost 90% of my claim last Tuesday (27th) but due to the postal strike:mad: only got my letter yesterday (although it was dated 27th June). The money has not been deposited yet as of this morning but from reading threads on here most others seem to have been deposited within four or five days of offer letter. I know they are probably busy and have a backlog - but was just wondering if anyone has had to wait the whole 14 days?

    Y.

Spoken to Halifax today on yet another new number 01977 627425 after I received my offer letter yesterday of £544 (claiming for £1138). Told them I was not happy with the offer and would they revise it. she said she would take my number and pass it on to somebody who may or may not revise the offer and phone me back. She said that she noted I did not accept the offer so they would not be paying that out and my claim still carries on as though an offer had not yet been made! She also said I may not get a better offer and they may just stick with the £544.

I think they are altering their policy now. I sincerely hope I get another offer as I really dont want to have to wait and go to mcol.
