    I have just received a letter today from the Halifax offering me £1487.50. My original claim was for £2885.11. Should I accept? What do you recommend? Any advise would be appreciated, thanks,Teresa,

    It's entirely up to you whether to accept or not, personally I would write to them and tell them that you accept the offer as part payment without prejudice but you will be persuing the claim for the rest of the monies owed

    hi phone them tomorrow saying some thing like "i am filling in my form for f o (financial ombudsman) and i want to know what is happin with my case and if you are willing to settle be for i send of form"
    or along the lines of that anyway! it worked for me today!!! :money:
  • Just a quick question re the Halitwats;

    I sent of my initial request, then LBA, I actually waited the 8 weeks and then got the standard get lost letter, my calim is for £4163 + 8% + Court Fees.

    I filed with MCOL on May 17th, it was deemed severed on the 25th, they acknowledged it on the 24th, stating their intention to defend.

    I have ready that lots of others had been sent payments within 6 or 7 days of the acknowledgement, how come they don't do the same with me?

    Any ideas what they may do next?

    Thanks

    Hi, I rang them on the same day I got the offer and managed to get it increase to only £360 short of what I was asking for!!! Give them a ring and haggle a bit it is better than waiting around for them to decide. Good luck

    Hi, I hope you dont mind me contacting you.I cant seem to get my question posted on screen - new at this!!
    I have been offered just over half the amount I requested from the Halifax. £1487.50 as opposed to £2885.11. What should I do next? Should i accept this offer? Can you give me any advice? many thanks.

    51Phoenix hi remember you are really in control here not them and if you do phone them be calm but know what you are saying, it really confuses them !!! ha You should be able to increase the offer without any problems. Good luck really you can do it.
