Hi so is everyone getting a automated decline letter after the first and the second letter sent or just the first?? Please help as I want to see where everyone else is?!?!? I only sent the second letter the other day is it worth me phoning them? Please reply Thankies
I phoned and got nowhere, so waited the timeframe and just filed MCOL but you could try and see what they say.0 -
I got the automated decline letter too. I spoke to a guy at the Halifax who said they will look into the claim again. I asked him at this point will I get a small offer and then I will have to bargain. he replied 'something like that'. I also asked that would it be better to just to go to court as they would offer to defend but won't bother and then deposit money into my account. The banks don't want to defens as they just can't explain the high charges. His response was 'that could happen, it's just a game really'
So wait and get money or go to court, Halifax will pay up + interest.0 -
Hi everyone!!!! just phoned Halifax like FANOFMARTIN did and a nice guy there said that there has been a letter sent out with a "goodwill gesture" of £1,255.39 which was all the money I asked for including court cost and interest!! tip to everyone go for it!!!!0

I have recieved my paper copy of the Acknowledgement of service via MCOL to the Halifax.
It states that they are to defend all of the claim.
The form is signed (albeit electronically) by A O'Brien (RAH) - whatever that is. His position is listed as Head of Legal Services.
Now, my point is, even is I fail to get a penny the head honcho has looked at my case so I must be really important :rotfl:
Or maybe he didn't sign it at all ?? I can't really see the Head of Legal Services for the Hailfax answering all the acknowledgements, and I wondered if anyone knows the position with regard to the legality of this ? Has Mr O'Brien signed any other forms I wonder ??0 -
Ah well it took them 2 weeks but at last a reply to my last account , and the offer of £118.00 of a £239 claim and another number to phone too ... to reject of course the goodwill payment .
Laters Degs
Just to let you know I settled yesterday on £215.00 out of a £239 claim ... ..dont give up ...

Hi,
I'm doing 2 separate claims through 2 accounts with Halifax, sent off both letters at the same (inc Interest) one coming to £1036 and the other is about £500, I had a letter back declining the re-charge for the £500 after about 3-4 days, but I haven't had anything from the larger amount yet, and it will be 3 weeks on Friday...what do you suggest I do? ring up? send the letter again or send the next letter about court action? (I am sending ALL my letters special delivery so I know it's getting to them, it may cost £4 but it's worth it)
Cheers.0 -
Amazing ! My daughter wrote to the Halifax, her first stage for copies bank charges, totalling £410.00, she recieved the statements within 5 days! They never took her £10 fee either! She then recieved within the next 7 days £210 paid into her bank account, she then followed that with a letter requesting the rest of the money, giving them 7 days or court, on the 7th day she telephoned them requesting the balance and within 4 days she got a confirmation letter and the balance transferred into her account, it took just over three weeks in all !!
I wrote at the same time for bank statements, I am still waiting, I telephoned this morning and they said takes up to 40 days !!!! Is it the shamrock over the head ??0 -
