They never took her £10 fee either! She then recieved within the next 7 days £210 paid into her bank account, she then followed that with a letter requesting the rest of the money, giving them 7 days or court, on the 7th day she telephoned them requesting the balance and within 4 days she got a confirmation letter and the balance transferred into her account, it took just over three weeks in all !!
I think I may have to go down the same route your daughter did with Halifax. They just credited me with a goodwill "payoff" which amounts to under a third of my full claim amount. So, onwards with another threatening letter then MCOL I guess!0 -
oh and degs did they offer you that afetr the second letter? Did you phone them and say no thanks I want more
or write back to them declining? Ive put in for £700? I wonder... wb
hI Dezzi....it was offered after the we feel these charges are justified letter , I asked them to have another look then a week later I had an offer of 1/2 of the claim , so I phoned the number on the letter and just asked for more .
Hope this helps ...:DIm not really mad...0 -

Hi guys,
just phoned the Halifax, and spoke to a woman asking about repaying my charges as this was the last day of my 14day time frame. She said that halifax aren't paying back all the money requested in cases, and "certainly aren't paying back interest accumulated as a result of the charges" so she said that she will send me an offer in the post tomorrow, if i am unhappy with my offer i am welcome to commence court procedings. lol
I think this is a load of pap, as i said i've seen hundreds of cases where people have been reimbersed. So if they send me a stupid offer (i'm claiming 370) then i said i will commence court procedings.
realistically im expecting a stupid offer of 100 or something, although she said they will look at how much i have been charged as a results (which is actually 320) and make an offer based on that..
Any thoughts??
cheers

Ok so I have been reading everyone’s stories about reclaiming bank charges. So 50 days ago using the template from Money saving expert I asked Halifax to send me my past 6 years default charges. 40 days past and giving them the extra few days I phoned Halifax accounts. The man asked if I wished to file a complaint, I replied yes. He said I would get an answer by 5 working days.
So yesterday I got a letter From Customer Relations. About my bank charges? Yes the one every one gets stating they are satisfied that the charges have been correctly applied and reasons behind their desicision. What, i have not recieved my 6 years statements yet and they are fobbing me of with this letter. So again I phone this time Customer Relation. Machine tells me to phone this number 01422391152 (an automated response telling me that my Statements will be posted out in 40 days, how they know it’s me?)Wasted money on that call. Phone back to customer relations hit 2 on phone waited till some one picked up. Told them my complaint at present was not receiving my statements. She quickly check, and told me that she would reordering them if I didn’t mind receiving duplicates. Better, hope they arrive.
On a note in the fobbing off letter in paragraph titled how we can help. They mention how they can help me by providing an overdraft facility. I have asked for this since 1999 and been refused every time. If I had one I would not have had default charges. I am now set to take this fat cat for everything it rightly owes me. Shall keep you all informed0 -

Good luck, I hope you get every penny off them. I would report them to the Informaion Commisioner also if you haven't already done so, for not complying with your statement request.

My Claim is going back until February.
I've been through all the merry dances with Halifax, and hopefully we will be waltzing the last dance toward the end of this month.
My account was OD and was in the hands of a Debt Collection Agency. Then, in February I read up on the charges getting refunded on here/news so I wrote to DCA and said-am disputing the amount. They wrote back and said fine and that They've passed account back to Halifax.
I followed the steps on Martins article and requested statements from Halifax. They arrived promptly. HOWEVER shortly after I got a nasty letter from a Solicters firm(Hollis briggs) saying that if I didn't pay the outstanding balance I was in for it- court, baliffs etc
I calmy wrote back to the Solicters, re stating that the amount was in dispute, whilst at the same time sending Stage 2 template to Halifax....asking for my charges back.
Halifax then sent the usual....we have eight weeks to respond letter
Again following the steps on this site I replied....and told them to Respond in 14 days or its time for court, without further notice.
One week later I then get another letter from a new DCA (WESCOTT)- saying to contact them about paying this outstanding debt within 3 days or else.
I file a small claim application and write to WESCOTT to advise that account is in dispute. The onlince court tells Halifax to respond by 20th June.
21st May- get standard letter from Halifax- we looked at your charges and they are fair.
Today I get another letter from a different DCA (Blair/Olivier and Scott) stating that Halifax has been in contact with them and they are encouraging me to contact them to take advantage of an mega discount on the outstanding balance!!!
I'm baffled with all these DCA letters and what the heck is Halifax upto!!
The status of the Online court is still the same. They have not acknowledged or stated they intend to defend.0
