Hey, i'm new to all this and was wondering has anyone successfuly claimed charges back from the Halifax. Also i have asked them for a list of all charges ever made and i was wondering do you have to send them a copy of this with your letter as more have been added on since i got the list. Could someone also tell me the best template letter to use if there is one. Your help would be greatfully appreciated.

I have accepted a part payment of £3024 out of a claim of £5345 from the Halifax.
I thought that I would give them a call to see if we could settle on the remainder before filing a claim. I spoke to someone who was adamant that the money I'd accepted was a "full and final settlement". When I said that I expected them to say that she got a bit upset. Her arguement was that as I'd accepted the payment it was legally concluded and they would contest any claim.
I'm pretty sure that's nonsense but I thought I'd get some reaction from fellow posters before taking the claim on.0 -

Hi,
after many weeks of non communication on the Halifax's behalf, we finally threatened them with a letter to the ombudsman - got an offer within days. After some further haggling, we have managed to get 75% of our charges back.
Keep on at them, they will try every trick in the book to fob you off.
Best of luck if you go for it.
Pete.

You need to do a list of all the charges, with description, amount and date taken.0 -
Hi!! I sent my first letter claiming with interest (710) and they have sent me a letter back saying they reject my claim and feel the charges are fair. Is this what they usually do? I am going to send them a second letter now saying either pay me or go to court. Is this the best thing to do? (I used martins 2nd letter btw) with all these people losing cases and stuff im a bit worried!! I was a student and they charged me £180 within 2 weeks so I want to get it back off them. Do you think its best to put in an offer with them?? arrrr!! Please help thank you, X C XTotal debt £17,135 total paid off £5250
