halifax bank charges (merged)

The letter asking for the information though is worded that you are asking for ALL data held on you so this covers more than one account should you have them
Once you work out what your total charges are you could either do one claim or split it into two. When making your claim you will have to list each charge on each account anyway.0 -

Tell me something...... When did you send of your 1st letter ??? Just that I sent mine on Tuesday.
Thanks!
Sent my very first letter requesting the statements on 17th November. They came about 2 weeks later.
Then my letter requesting the total amount from them was dated 13th December .
I did have to send them a letter mentioning I would take them to court if they did not reply 14 days later then my letter with them offering the settlement figure was dated 2nd Jan.
Worth sticking at in the end.
Good luck :T0 -
so roughly about a month? if you don't mind me asking, was the amount you requested under £1,000 as it seems that with Halifax if its over £1,000 generally ppl are having to file a claim with the court, which scares me a little so I'm not holding out much hope that i'll get an offer in the 14 days since I sent my letter requesting the full amount.0

The first amount I claimed for was £1,995.00 + interest making it over £2,000.
They offered me £1,874.00 as a settlement figure which I accepted.
I was starting to worry as they did not reply to my letter and I had to send them a letter saying I had not received a response and they had a further 7 days before I started court proceedings but as soon as I sent that letter I have a reply within a few days.
They won't want to go to court anymore than you or I would they just drag things out as they think people won't stick to it because they will get scared, etc.
Just follow the step by step plan and you will be fine.
You are completely in the right claiming your money bank....and Halifax know that as well!0 -

Thanks for that. I sent my first letter to my local branch on the 2nd Jan by recorded delivery asking for just under £1,500 for 4.5 years charges and today have had a letter back sayings its been passed onto the complaints department who will repond to my complaint in a max of 40n days so I guess I wait 14 days and If i haven't had a response send them the letter threatening court action and give them another 7 days?
Better make sure I have £120 set aside then for court fees if needed. Will have you use my halifax credit card for that0 -
i am in the same position as miss kitty except my two weeks run out on monday and they sent me a letter saying complaints are dealing with it and it could take up to 40 days what should i do send second letter off or wait????? Are they just stalling??0

Over the years I had a number of banks and gt ripped off.........I paid my ulster bank off .about £40000 four years ago.on a annount that had been sitting for over 9 years......m wife had died.and they held meon her credit cards.......before they would release acsecond charge on my house hta i was selling.
Am I able to claim from the six years of charges that were being active BEFORE the account closed.
In other words I want to claim NOW.
Bank number TWO.......
First tust.I clused it four four years ago.and and I have requested a list of fees during its operation........but they will only supply FULL statements and not individua charges.they are demanding £560 for these at 56 sheets at £10 THEY WILL NOT ISSUE FOR A one PAYMENT AS SUGGESTED ON SITE OF £10.....
I woulddlook forward to any advicethatcan be given in order that I may claim over £20000 from various banking institutions.0 -

oops, mistake. mine also said the same. I presume its a standard letter that is sent out to all complaints.
therefore I'm sticking to the 14 days timeframe I gave them and if i don't hear anything further in that time I'm sending the 2nd letter giving them a final 7 days before I start court proceedings.
the dates are penciled in my diary already so i don't miss a day!0 -

Yes just stick to your 14 days then send the next letter - it will be them trying to put you off and drag it out a bit longer!
Good luck0
