I'll let you know as soon as I hear from them.
I have had the odd £30.00 " Gesture of goodwill" ( I do hate that phase ), in the past and when I spoke to a lady on the phone when I requested my statements she said that, " It doesn't matter if you have had the gesture of goodwills in the past you can still go ahead with your claim".:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -
I'm new to this so try to have patience with me (please!). It took me a long time to be brave enough to send a letter off to HALIFAX PLC requesting my charges info. I wanted to make sure I knew exactly what to do. So I read through time and time again over a matter of weeks and even spread the word about this site. A week before Christmas I wrote the letter, sent it off with a cheque and was really , REALLY chuffed with myself for actually DOING it....... then I realised I forgot to put my account number on the letter! So, I'm asking you lot whether HALIFAX PLC should still have to send me the info in the allotted time. I only have 1 account with them and my name and address was at the top of the letter. I'd be really grateful for any advice. Thank you.0

They will be able to trace your account with just your name and address but it might be an idea to send a follow up letter now with your account number.0

Does anyone know how long it took their local branch to receive the 1st letter then send off to the relevant department before you had a reply. Are you looking at a couple of days.
I sent mine yesterday, recorded delivery and to be honest I keep thinking about it. What if they turn it down?? No "gesture of goodwill" ?? Offering less than I have stated... So many things going round in my mind.
Have others felt the same ??
They have to acknowledge receipt of your complaint within 5 working days. That does not mean full investigation
They will transfer the complaint to the department same day or next working day0 -
cache-man wrote:Thanks for the reply Rex. I do understand your view on the lower offers. The only reason I made the offer was to hope it would speed matters up, and maybe avoid court, as I have read similar testimonials from others here. The lower offer was roughly the sum of the charges but without interest. The letter I sent howecer did state that the lower "Without Prejudice" offer was for 7 days only otherwise court action would be taken for the FULL amount AND court costs. Lets just hope for the best now.
Also, I'm currently claiming benefits at the moment for the first time in my life, after some unforseeable circumstances, and I have heard that I should be able to get the court costs paid for me - I dont suppose anyone knows how I go about that (and if it delays matters) - should I be able to do it on the moneyclaim site, or would I have to do it with the paper form at the local court office?
So, should I start the claim now, even though their 7 days isnt up, but they have replied saying my letter was passed on, or should I give them chance to get in touch till the 7 days is up on the 30th (Saturday)? Appologies if this appears to repeat the prev post, but I just don't want to make any more unnecesarry risks.
Many thanks
One more question though, I'm also filling out a EX160 from with the N1 to try to apply for exempsion/remission. I currently recieve CONTRIBUTIONS-BASED Job seekers allowance, and the EX160 states I can have exemption from fees if I recieve INCOME-BASED job seekers allowance. So, I cant apply for exemption then? just remission?
Does anyone hare have experience of the EX160 based around CONTRIBUTIONS-BASED JSA?
I need to try for the EX160, as I just dont have the £120 available to pursue the claim at the moment :embarasse0 -
Does anybody know how long it takes for the statements to arrive or at least an acknowledgment? Sent my letter off on the 12th December. (I know its only a few weeks ago), but im getting impatient, or should i say excited by the prospect of getting one over on my bank.
Did not realise you could phone up until after i sent my DPA request with a postal order.
Thanks to all who have offered advice and help. Happy New Year:beer:0 -

Just to keep you all up-to-date I received a letter yesterday saying as a gesture of goodwill, Halifax will offer me £1,874.00 (I was originally claiming for £2,182.30 including interest). :j
I have decided to accept this offer as I am really happy with it - I must admit I have been very scared and doubtful as to whether this would work or not but I could not be happier! :rotfl:
Sent the form back today accepting their offer so just waiting for the funds to be transferred to my account - does anyone know how long this normally takes?
Thanks!0 -

Well done you. Really nice news for a change.
Tell me something...... When did you send of your 1st letter ??? Just that I sent mine on Tuesday.:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -
Hi there, am new to posting questions so hope its in the right place. I have 2 accounts with the Halifax and on 28th nov wrote asking for details of charges etc on only one of them, I stated in the letter the acc no. sort code and roll number. 3 weeks later I recieved statements , but for the other account i have with them which I didn't even mention in my letter! So I wrote back and pointed out their error enclosing a copy of the original letter, and again requesting the info. Yesterday recieved the very SAME statements from the wrong account, and in 12 envelopes. Have written back giving them 14 days to reply or will be reporting them. However on checking the statements they have sent me from other account, discovered that they have actually charged me £1040.00 over the past 6 years that I didn't realise, so thanks to them I am going to put in 2 claims, can I claim separatly on 2 accounts held with one bank?0
