If you did three copies of the N1 form, you should get your copy back sometime next week. This will contain the date that your bank has to enter a defence by.

    Hi

I currently bank with Halifax and am considering claiming back charges. Has anyone had any success with Halifax - either by way of an offer or full amount??

    Thanks very much.

    Hi,

Think you should definately go ahead with it.

I've just claimed from the Halifax and got a letter this week offering me a settlement figure which I accepted.

I first asked for my charges amount plus interest but hte amount they have offered me was without the interest - which I still accepted.

Go for it and good luck! :D
  • hi miss phoenix. im new on here too and have just read your quote. I have had so many problems with the halifax over the last few years and have always found them to be very unhelpful and sometimes downright rude. they have taken money from another account of mine to offset my overdraft( this money being my child benefit) and have taken money from my current account to pay my visa, making my account even further overdrawn. A friend of mine claimed back all her bank charges from the halifax last month and i decided to follow suit. to date i have paid over £4,200.00 in charges over the last six years and i have claimed back £4,700.32 to include interest. i sent off the letter from martins moneytips and had a reply within 14 days saying they were looking into my situation. Yesterday i received a telephone call from the Halifax and i was offered £2,000.00 as an act of goodwill and in full andfinal settlement. This does not even represent 50% of what ive paid but im a little bit nervous about declining their offer, but i think for them to offer anything means that they must realise they are in the wrong so i will write and tell them i want another offer. i hope you get all your charges back and we can show them that we are not just the little people that can be trampled on.
  • ive just had my first offer from the halifax, that was less than half of what i am claiming and thanks to your post i will decline the offer and battle on.
  • Hi im new to all this and am a bit wary of making a claim for what must be a substantial amount of money the halifax have robbed me of over the years.Has anyone had accounts closed by the halifax for claiming.any replies would be very welcome. Thanks

Thanks very much for this, I think I will give it go!! A couple more questions if you don't mind - do you know if they are closing your account down and how long did the process take??

Thanks for your quick response - has given me confidence.

call them asking for your statements if you haven't already done this as you will only be charged £5 and its quicker than sending a request by post with a £10 cheque.
you should send your first letter asking for the amount to your local branch.

    hope this helps

sorry i meant the address for sending the letters to i already have the charges.

i want to send the claim
