i called halifax earlier to tell them i wanted my complaint re-looked into as i was no happy with the response of the charges are legal.
they did not ask me what i would accept they just said it will be looked at again.
Did i do something wrong should i have haggled?
I'm in the same boat, got the standard rejection letter only a couple of days after sending them the 1st claim giving them 14 days. Phoned the number on the rejection and was told that I'd be hearing from them "very soon".
It's now 14 days since the initial letter so will be threatening them with court action letter tomorrow.
Then MCOL ........... :rolleyes:0 -

I rang Halifax this afternooon asking then too look into my claim aginn and said i did not want to go to court but i will if i don't get a reply this was at 5pm today (Wednesday) i rang the bank at 12 midnight that same day tonight! There was £864.50 in my account. As a offer!!! but my claim was for £1602.
So talk to them and thety do help!0 -
I have received the standard letter from them saying they believe the charges are correct, I cant really afford to take them to court as I dont work.
Shall I ring them and ask them to re-evaluate my claim ? What should I say ??
I dont want to come across weak so they can just say 'no'Please remember to say Thank You if I help you0 -
I have finally got a response from halifax from the first request letter(although I had to send it twice). "In relation to your request for information about any manual intervention on your account. As the Halifax is not required to record this information I,m afraid I,m unable to assist you further with this request"
Is this just a stalling tactic and if so,what is my next step, are they obliged to give me this information. They did include a list of automatic charges but without any charge codes . I guess that charges for manual intervention probably make up the majority of their charges and so these are more important for us to get back and for the banks to hold onto. They did cancel my £10 cheque and waive the charge as a gesture of goodwill -( its probably a legal scam.)0 -
Had my final response from the Halifax today, they state that they think the charges are fair blah blah blah and will not refund them. I telephoned them this morning and they said that they will look back into my claim and will probably get a more favourable response. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, how long did you wait to get an offer/reponse??
Thanks

Probably a standard BS reply to allow more time to pass (aka more interest to be earned).
Don't forget, the bank are NOT there to help you.Hamsters have no tact and diplomacy, nor do they want any.0 -
Yeah I realise this but as I live on Scotland I intend to use the FSO, I'm just sure I read somewhere that somebody else had had this reponse and the Bank had re-investigated and they got their refund. I was hoping someone would know how long.
I'm going on holiday in about four weeks with three kids the money would be handy!!!:rotfl:They took my signature away!!!!0 -
I wouldn't count on the money in that short a timespan.
If you are going to the FO then give them 56 days (calendar days) from your first letter of complaint then send in your details to the FO.
Ignore any communications from the bank unless it is a full offer. Let the FO do your talking for you.Hamsters have no tact and diplomacy, nor do they want any.0 -
have just rang the halifax about re-evaluating my claim that was initially declined, the very bored but polite sounding man at the other end said, no problem, he said it is an 8 week process and we are about 3-4 weeks into that process , please do call back for an update in 2 weeks time but i would have thought you would have heard something by then
, well lets hope so hey lol.
At this point in the process is it wise for me to still start court proceedings or should i wait? can anyone tell me?0
