  • Its good to read so many of you are getting somewhere with claims from the halifax, and wonder if anyone can offer us any help.

I wrote to the halifax in january requesting statements, cheque was cashed then after about 38 days received a letter saying please allow another 10 days, 10 days passes NO STATEMENTS, rang the numer on the letter, just received a message saying you will receive your statements shortly!!!! " weeks ago wrote to halifax explaining i had waited 4 nearly 4 months and that if i didnt receive them in 10 working days i would go to the commissioner. Its now 8 days - no response.

Does anyone have any suggestions, numbers to ring?

I have looked at commissioners website but it looks like that can take a while so would rather avoid that if possible.

    Thanks

Pop into your local branch is the best advice being given I think.

Just off the phone to their Customer Relations Team in Leeds- last week (after standard rejection letter) they offered just over £900 for my claim; versus actual charges just under the £1900 with interest to add. After no more than a two minute call the bloke asked what I would accept. I advised 100% as per other people applying for refunds will suffice. This was granted (minus interest) without any hesitation whatsoever! Since I intitially over- calculated interest, I realised the revised interest figure was not worth chasing.

Even better that I live in Scotland and successfully claimed 6 years without needing to go through MCOL or offer an English address. Thanks to all on this forum for giving people like myself the motivation and confidence to reclaim our own money. :T

I don't know if it is worth above posters calling Leeds Customer Services, unless these guys are simply responding to claimants at this end- stage of claims?

I have to agree, I phoned them after they offered me half my £1757 claim as full and final settlement, I was asked what I would consider - and suggested 75% - to which they agreed and said it would be paid into my account in the next few days ( they had already transferred half accross.)

I know some people will think its daft when I could claim the whole lot and more from court - but its money I wouldn't have had at all if it had not been for all the publicity surrounding this, and its still a fair figure - (which they took off me at a ery hard time in my life - divorce!)

She said that the charges would remain the same on my account should I breach account terms again - but as I pointed out to her - the charges date back a fair while and I have not had any for some time - luckily things have improved for me now.

I was scared stiff doing this claim - but it has been so easy really - just using the standard letters here. (Although from what people have told me, Halifax are one of the quicker to pay out.)

Good luck everyone - get phoning Leeds with your case number - I spoke to a lady caled Val who was really nice.

You are most likely wasting your time and giving them a way of stalling for time. These days they tend to only respond to letters and/or complaints to the FO or court.
Hamsters have no tact and diplomacy, nor do they want any.

Am at the 3rd stage of reclaiming banjk charges - I have written to Halifax with amount of charges and had a letter back from them to say that the charges are fair in their opinion and i would not be getting any monies back - I have now written to them saying I am going to take them to court.....

How many people have had to do this and how did they get on??

    Thanks Jan
