Can any one help? My daughter is claiming from Halifax for 3 seperate accounts. One of these ws closed with an overdraft which she payed off but because she paid it all in one go Halifax gave her what they called a discount on the final settlement figure. They have now made her an offer based on two of the accounts but have said that because of the settlement on the third one they will not give her any thing for this. What she is claiming amounts to more than the discount. I have not come cross this anywahere on here before and wonder what our next move should be.

Just got another reply from the same person at the Halifax with the rest of the charges from 2003 to 2007 but the problem is its only a list with charges and dates not my statements as requested and the person doesnt have a contact number (what a suprise)

So in theory they might have missed something and i have no way of checking

Has anyone else been sent the sheet of A4 with only dates and charges listed ?

Is it worth still trying to get the proper statements ?

I had a reply back from the FSA eventually saying that they would include my complaint in the May batch to the Halifax will this prompt them to send the statements correctly ?

Just had a letter offering me half of the £353 Im claiming ..it will be in the account in the next 14 days .....yikes it was in yesterday and I dont want it ...well off to phone to send it back ...
    Im not really mad...
  • I have just returned from holiday to find a cheque for £2050 (approx) from the Halifax on my doormat, very nice but £250 short of the amount I am claiming.

As it happens I can enter a judgement by default from today as the 28 days are up, and I don't see any reason why I shouldn't at this stage - £250 is certainly worth a bit more inconvenience and work on my part

I am unsure of how to do this though, should I do the JBD for the full amount or just for the difference? I can see there is a "Deducted amount (if any) paid since issue" field in the online form, should I enter the amount of the cheque here or should I send the cheque back and go for the full amount?

as you may know i was saying last week about my mcol running out yesterday and not knowing weather i should put in win by default today, well i rang the mcol line today and asked them about it and i got told there was a mess up with the paperwork due to the high volume they have been dealing with and because of this they are going to allow 1 extra week so i now have to wait till next monday, so the bank has until sunday now !
has this happened to anyone else ? i havent argued incase it hinders my claim in anyway but i am very fed up as still nothing from halifax as yet.
i wish i had gone via ombudsman now, can i still do this do you think because on the forms i have had sent me by them it ask's weather any court action is being sort?
:rotfl: it's all making my head spin!!!!!!

    Hi,

I'm at the final stage with Halifax and have filed a claim via the online court here in N.Ireland. Halifax were notified of my claim on 8th of May and today 21 days later the status of the claim has not changed and I am now wondering if this is worth it?

Before any of the court action took place, Halifax originally told me that they would contact in before the 21st May with an outcome of the case. I ignored this and started court proceedings immediately....around the beginning of May.

Their last letter to me stated that "as promised we have wrote to you before the 21st May, we are sorry that you are not happy, please take it up with the ombudsman"

So now its been left in Limbo and I am getting frustrated.

Should i write another letter reminding them its at the court stage, or what should I do? I know others have telephoned but from the outset I have strictly communicated in writing? Should I hold tight?

are you all still trying to claim your charges back even though the banks seem to be winning this battle now?

i had a letter @ the end of last week from halifa saying they were not going to pay up, I was just going to leave it cant afford to lose more money by going to court.

Please dont give up. I received a letter from halifax saying that they had 8 weeks to look into my claim. 8 weeks later and received a letter saying that the charges where correct and they wasn't going to refund me. I rang them and said i disagree and i told them i wasnt happy. I threatened court action. My claim was therefore put back in for a review. I sent the second letter and a week later i was offered my refund and it was more than i actually claimed for. lol

Good Luck and dont give up

    Sue
Bank Charges refunded from Halifax £2600
Bank Charges refunded from halifax joint account £554
Credit Card Charges refunded £300 plus interest
I'm proud to be dealing with debt!!! :T
