Hi all
after applying for statements back in October/November 06 (left it to pay £5 for them until this year due to changing job and general busy-ness etc.....) anyway finally had my statements all 77 pages of them and without interest my charges totaled just under £5400....... (I've been messy with this account!)
I sent my letter of reclaiming £5000 explaineing that my charges were in excess of this. Had the initial letter saying get stuffed. Rung Halifax next day spoke to a nice girl she said they will re-submit my claim...so just sitting on this to see what happens £5k is too much to give up on!0 -
Hi All
Any ideas how long its taking Halifax to get copies of statements sent out?
I sent a letter requesting my statements (funnily enough none show on my online account with them?!?) about 2 weeks ago. Im not expecting miracles but when I called the contact centre yesterday a rather snotty advisor told me that they would not be able to tell me if any letters had been received into their correspondence/customer relations/whatever they want to call it department as the team do not put notes like that onto the accounts.
Now, working in a contact centre myself.. and as a manager... I cant believe that every piece of customer contact such as this isnt placed onto a customers account as a note..... I thought my company needed to get things in order but in comparison to Halifax we are angels! At least we have set process and procedures we have to follow. Halifax just seem to be a law to themselves.
Any one got any ideas? Have a feeling Im being fobbed off and might need to send another letter requesting the statements.... or can advisors order them over the phone??
Thanks

These days, your chances of getting all your charges back in response to a strongly worded letter are as slim as a size zero model. The first two letters are just to show that you have tried to settle the matter, before you escalated it to the courts or Financial Ombudsman.
You aren’t legally entitled to the 8% “statutory” interest on the charges, unless it is awarded by the judge. However, it can be a useful bargaining tool. By claiming it now, you are saying to the bank, “If you make me take you to court, it will cost you my court fees and this amount in interest. So save yourself time and money and pay me my charges now.”The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -

Have a read of Martin's article and listen to the audio clip in the article where he explains adding the interest into your claim.
I'll pop your post into the Halifax thread where you'll find lots of people at the same stage and with the same worries.0 -

It sounds like you're getting the full 'Halifax Experience'!!! Call them again or pop into your local branch & ask for your statements to be e-mailed/faxed through ASAP...while you wait preferably....take a packed lunch & good luck!!:D0 -
With halifax claim - 58 days and no statements have been sent yet. I think a letter of reminder will be the next step. They are a pain in the.. foot.
Just received the barclays statements (in three packages!!!). That took about 54 days. (lucky really as 'somebody' lost the recorded delivery slip so we were going to have to send another £10 request!) Phew. Next step is the maths bit.groan. I'm not sure if you add the interest on at this point?
I will try to read up on it again when my flu has diminished!

Hi I wonder if anyone can help, I'm trying to do something about all the charges my partner has incurred over the last 6 years. I have sent a letter (in his name) requesting the statements and although I forgot to note the date the letter was sent, it was definitley over 40 days ago. I know the next step is to contact the Halifax by phone but can someone give me the number please. I know I have to get my partner to phone for himself but he doesn't like speaking on the phone at the best of times!
Is there anything in particular he needs to say to them or that they may say to him that he should be prepared for? Any help would be appreciated.0 -

Hi .. go to 'google' and put in your local bank's post code and address (should be on your bank letters/or any odd statements you may have had). You should find the number that way. (Or go to https://www.bt.co.uk and the 'find a business'. This might work.)
Just explain that you have sent a £10 deposit and request for six years of statements on 'so and so date' or '44 days ago', and 'can you send them to me as soon as possible please'. Hopefully you will get a good response.
If not, then go in personally and ask to see the manager. (I did that a while back and saw him there and then after a 3 minute wait!). Then ask if you could have your statements, as mentioned on a post below, ..emailed or faxed to you there and then while you wait. (don't forget to take your fax or email address).
If not up to going face to face yet, maybe try sending a reminder letter of your own (by recorded delivery..and print out the proofs of delivery from https://www.postoffice.co.uk 'track and trace' for your records if you need to complain about no response later).
Hope this helps. And keep going/good luck.:www:If you've got time, please sign the government petition online that 'ME is Real'HALIFAX Statements request letter sent 30 March. Statements received 05 June 1st Letter sent 03 July 07 2nd Letter(threaten court action)sent 17th July 07
