halifax bank charges (merged)

Hi I wonder if anyone can help, I'm trying to do something about all the charges my partner has incurred over the last 6 years. I have sent a letter (in his name) requesting the statements and although I forgot to note the date the letter was sent, it was definitley over 40 days ago. I know the next step is to contact the Halifax by phone but can someone give me the number please. I know I have to get my partner to phone for himself but he doesn't like speaking on the phone at the best of times!
Is there anything in particular he needs to say to them or that they may say to him that he should be prepared for? Any help would be appreciated.
What makes you think the next stage is to ring them?
Please read these threads before you do anything else...

Halifax has been super quick with me, after sending the first letter they apparently sent the rejection letter the following day...clearly Martin is right and this is a automatic reponse!
Now I'm not sure whether to call them and ask them to look at my complaint again or just send the second letter. I'm not happy waiting 8 weeks to get a partial offer, I want ALL MY MONEY!!0 -
I've called..And after 30 minutes of waiting I'm back on hold...the guy I'm speaking to says that they hardly ever send out the rejection letter and I'm the first person he's come across with it..hahaha liars.0

Hi All
Any ideas how long its taking Halifax to get copies of statements sent out?
I sent a letter requesting my statements (funnily enough none show on my online account with them?!?) about 2 weeks ago. Im not expecting miracles but when I called the contact centre yesterday a rather snotty advisor told me that they would not be able to tell me if any letters had been received into their correspondence/customer relations/whatever they want to call it department as the team do not put notes like that onto the accounts.
Now, working in a contact centre myself.. and as a manager... I cant believe that every piece of customer contact such as this isnt placed onto a customers account as a note..... I thought my company needed to get things in order but in comparison to Halifax we are angels! At least we have set process and procedures we have to follow. Halifax just seem to be a law to themselves.
Any one got any ideas? Have a feeling Im being fobbed off and might need to send another letter requesting the statements.... or can advisors order them over the phone??
Thanks
Ash

Do I send the second letter to my actual branch? Or is there a head office address? Just wanted to know what people have used so far. (Sorry if this has been mentioned somewhere before, I did check the forum as much as possible before posting.)
Many thanks.

Hi guys
A bit of advice please. We recieved a letter today (14 days after sending stage 4 letter), saying they are still investigating our complaint and will get back to us within a month.
I telephoned the number on the letter and spoke to a rather aggressive young lady who didn't even want to take our account details. She just said 'The Financial Ombudsman tells us we have 8 weeks to investigate and his word is law'.
My feeling is to just get on MCOL and start a claim, but is this the right thing to do???? We've done every stage as written on here and kept copies of everything, sent everything recorded delivery etc0 -
I need to threaten court action; I am claiming just over £3k and after a recent call (following the standard rejection letter from Halifax) I received a letter offering just over £900.
Since I live in Scotland, and after reading the thread about Scotland I intend to threaten any legal action in England.0 -
are you all still trying to claim your charges back even though the banks seem to be winning this battle now?
i had a letter @ the end of last week from halifa saying they were not going to pay up, I was just going to leave it cant afford to lose more money by going to court. LOVE LIFE PROCEED & PROGRESS0 -

Just checked my account and they deposited my charges back to me today ....and also without any notice they also refunded charges on 2 other accounts , well they can take those two back , less than half that I'm claiming... dont give up ...:TIm not really mad...0 -
Halifax got my statements back to me within the 40 days i think it took them just over 3 weeks, though it took them less time to reject my claim first time.
However, I've been thinking this through I've rung them to ask for my case to be re-investigated, the girl on the phone said upto 8 weeks but could be sooner, should I wait for the next reply or send a chaser letter in 2 weeks time?0
