    Afternoon folks,

Iv just had the "charges have been correctly applied" letter and have a few questions. Im assuming that this is the standard letter people have been mentioning? Also, mine is 2 pages long which explains: their investigation, why i have been charged, how they can help and the outcome. is this still the standard letter?

Hope so as planning on court action now and need ti know im in with a shout of winning before i splash out.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers Folks

    Hi
I got this letter and phoned them on 01244 693024. I got the number from this thread and the guy seemed really shocked that I dared ring him on it! He said I would have an offer by the end of the week - which I'm guessing will be about half my claim.
    Prizes:
    2013 - £3,500; 2014 - £8,200; 2015 - £9,300; 2016 - £6,500; 2017 - £9,500; 2018 - £1,600; 2019 - £2,100; 2020 - £2360!
Thanks for everyone's help getting these xx

yeah i rang them aswell and told them i didnt respect their decision and planned on logged a court application that afternoon (yesterday). guy i spoke to told me not to be so hasty and will ensure someone will re-evaluate my case and get back to me, hopefully with a financial offer. He said he couldnt give a time scale but would probably take a week or two. I advised him to note that unless i hear something within 7 days, im pressing ahead with court regardless.

Hopefully this will have some effect but with it being halifax, im not holding my breath and fully expect them to come back in about 3 weeks and again decline it, just to waste time.

    Hi,
I have requested statements from a closed account and Halifax have said there is no record of me banking with them!!!
I had a current account, mortgage, and credit cards.
Admittedly they were closed 2 years ago but no record???
Can anyone help? I provided my name, address, d.o.b, previos address and sort code!!
The only thing missing is account number, which others have been able to find.
    Any Ideas??

My friend has now been waiting 86 days to receive her statements from the Halifax, they banked her cheque and sent her 3 years worth of charges but nothing else. She has complained to IC, tried phoning the suggested dedicated reclaiming charges telephone number at Halifax but is just on hold - once for 30mins! She's written twice more, but no response, it appears that she is powerless. What do I suggest to help her now?

If you had a mortgage then surely the solicitor involved with the purchase of the property will have the mortgage lenders' details on file....Do you not have details from companies such as insurance companies confirming direct debits or whatever that might have your a/c no. on them?

I had the same problem with receiving incomplete statements; I had the additional problem as the account had been closed a couple of years ago. ringing 08457 25 35 19 got it resolved in the end, but I had to be a right pain and ring them everyday for about two weeks..

Just received the letter stating that the "they have declined my complaint and the charges stand as per the orignal terms and conditions".

Called the 01977 627450 number and spoke to a nice chap who said they send the standard letter to ensure they give a response to the complaint within the 8 week timescales set by the FSO.

He said he would escalate the matter to the relevant people and I should expect a response within 2-3 weeks (possibly sooner). Usually the response will confirm a goodwill gesture will be paid into my account.

I was very polite and said that I want a response within 14 days or I shall do down the legal route.

    Keep your fingers crossed guys....

No that number was for the Halifax.

Everyone says they spoke to a nice person there but when i called they said tuff luck for incuring charges and i should look at my spending.... When i asked where i should send court papers they said nothing or "don't know" Must be my Dorset tones or they are just keen to put me off as am claiming just short of 5k.

Anyway, Halifax have acknowledged my MCOL claim and have 19 days to do something else…… Am sure thay will stall for more time but you never know they might pay up?!?
