    Hi
I've still not recieved my statements (40 days were up on Monday) does anyone know the best number to call them on?
    Thanks
    Diane

Try customer relations(ha!) on 08457 25 35 19, or if it is an account that is still open then why not pop into your local branch & ask for the list of charges to be e-mailed through ASAP. Good Luck!

I really hope they don't as I originally wrote requesting my statements on 19th December they cashed the postal order and I didn't recieve my list of charges until 27th April!!!

This is why I say go to the branch, I got tired of waiting and went in they sent them to me within 7 days free of charge and the staff were really friendly.

    Hi all.

wrote to Halifax at the end of March to request charges of in excess of £2000 be repaid. Got the usual "Sorry you are unhappy, we have 8 weeks...... but will try to respond in 4......" 4 weeks later to the day "We need another 4 weeks....." 8 weeks later again to the day got another letter, which in a nutshell says "You are not getting your money back..... if we don't hear from you within 8 weeks, we will assume you are happy and consider the matter closed"

Of course I am not happy....
Funny thing was that the letter had a direct telephone number on it 01977.... and not an 0800 or 0845. So I rang them and said that I would like them to re-evaluate my claim and pointed out that them taking their charges was swallowing up child benefit that is paid into this account and that that contravened section 185 of the social security act.... if i didn't get my money back then off to the court we go...
The man was helpful and understanding and said that he would personally have a word with the person that had made the decision and ask them to reconsider their decision. He then said that i will receive a letter from them within the next 2 - 3 days.....

    My questions are:confused:

    1. Has anybody else been in this situation?
    2. What was the outcome?
    3. Do you think they were trying to fob me off with the letter to see if i would just go away?
    4. Has anybody got any ideas what will happen now?
    5. Do you think they were trying to stall for more time... ?
They asked for 2-3 days not 8 weeks

I also got the distinct impression that when i rang them they realised i wasn't going to go away..... I am prepared to go to court, but would rather not if I don't have to.

Any views on the above would be very grateful.

    Cheers

Had the same letter & called the same number and they were far from pleasant & helpful so started claim with MCOL. But it is up to you what you do...

Have just called Halifax main line 08457 20 30 40 who advised me they couldn't even check to see if my letter had been recieved never mind if the statements had even been ordered! after causing a little bit of a fuss after being told there is a backlog and this could be the reason why it was taking so long (advised as per information commission they have 40 days to give me my information), was given their Customer Relations number 08457 25 35 19 to find out where my statements are! Just to be given a load of bluff about they actually have 45 days to sent these - even though I told them 40!
So then I asked if they had actually been ordered yet which seemed to cause a little more confusion! advised them I sent letter on 12th April and was signed for on the 13th - apparently they have no record of this - but luckily I do (well done royal mail for recorded delivery)
So the 'nice lady on the phone advised she had filled in a DRSA Form, I asked what this was to be told a request for the information and could up to 40 days (a total of 80 if thats happens!), explained again that I had already waited this time and was basically bluffed off! Told to confirm letter was signed for which I did, and because I sent a postal order I would need to confirm with the post office that it had been cashed!
I'm really annoyed about this - but if they can be so awkward about giving me my statements what are they going to be like about giving me my money back?
Any help would be gratefully recieved!

    Hi

I have taken the Halifax to court and i received a letter stating that they are defending the claim. The letter also says that they have 28 days to do this. Can anyone tell me if they have gone this far. How long the had to wait to hear anything else?

    Thanks
