I got exactly the same letter late last week... my husband called them and said he was not happy with the outcome and the person said that he would pass it to a senior account handler to deal with and they would get back to us within 8 weeks.

What timescale should I be looking at before chasing them again?
    Thanks
    Deb

you are right about sticking with your time frame and not theirs, but as for them gaining interest on it...i believe that the banks are making a huge mistake because for those that take it to court (like myself) they end up paying the full amount plus interest plus costs so in the long run it will cost them more i would think :rotfl:

Yes but for every one that makes it to court - how many settle early or are just mystified by the whole process and pack it in without receiving a penny. That is why the banks say " it is fair, live with it or take us to court" they sound arrogant and cocky and this intimidates people.
What we see on this website is just the tip of the iceberg and we know what that did to the unsinkable ship.

I sent my letter off in march giving them 14 days to reply for the total charges of £1300. i then got a letter back sating we will have this case resolved before 22nd may, so i though ok i'll wait coz im going to take the 1st offer any way i couldnt be botherd with court.

i got my letter today from Emma Williams and it states:

she has investigated my charges and all the charges issued have been correnctly applyed on my account.

she said i agreed to the terms and condtions regaring the leval or charges on my account when i opened it.

then they went on about how they could help me our and just rang off a list of how i can bank with them. and insuled me by offering me an extention on my overdraft! (which is not going to happen as the refused that last week when i requested it gets extended)

she went on to apologise about REJECTING my compaint!

She sent me out a leflet with all the info about the charges and if she has any more problem she would be keen to reslove them, but she also said if i have any more problems go though the financial ombudsman Service.

And if they have not heard anything within the next 8 weeks they will close this compaint.

I know i need to send them a letter now but what do i put in it! how can i counter that without taking them to court! (coz to be honest i really cant aford to go though the courts at this moment in time)

    Hi there.

My case has followed a similar path.

At the beginning of April I gave them 14 days (19th April) to respond to my request for a refund to charges, otherwise without further notice I will proceed to court.

I received a letter 4 days before the 19th April stating that they were sorry and they would get back to me before the 21st May.

On the 19th April I filed for court.....it took a while as I'm based in Northern Ireland and there was some to and froing re paperwork. A small claims pack was sent to Halifax on the 9th May.

3 days ago, I received the exact same letter as you- which I expected. It said if I wasn't happy to go to the Ombudsman......

Well I have ignored it. Forget the ombudsman love..... this case is in the court process and they have until the 20th June 2007 to respond.

Hi, I got this letter too, I think it is a new tactic. I have told them I am taking them to court as I don't even recieve letters but an automated email so charging £30 is definitely not a justified cost. I am waiting for them to acknowledge the court case now
    Prizes:
    2013 - £3,500; 2014 - £8,200; 2015 - £9,300; 2016 - £6,500; 2017 - £9,500; 2018 - £1,600; 2019 - £2,100; 2020 - £2360!
Thanks for everyone's help getting these xx

hi me again my other question was do u put yes or no to human rights question, not sure what it means exactly? Thanks
  • There's a sticky been put up by mse martin Sticky: Halifax/BofScotland Insider Hints
It gives advice if you're just away to write your 1st letter to them, and it seems avoid being sent the bog standard reply that everyone seems to be getting at the moment.
