  • hi i'm with the Halifax and have taken them to court. They owe my £2440 and so far they've credited £1399 into my account. I have accepted this as part payment! I will get more news re my case on 22 MAy. . . . next tuesday!!!!!. So watch this space. Keep going with them - they'll offer you something!!!
  • P.s can you believe the Halifax!.. . . . they've just increased my overdraft to £2750 from £500 which is why i accrued all these charges anyway - as i asked for and increase several times and they wouldn't allow it!!!!! It's amazing what a bit of knowledge gets you!

oh and my local branch won't do anything either

I can beat yours. I sent my letter on 10th March, they cashed my chq on 11th April and I am STILL waitng. Despite a call every day, and assurances they are on the way, they still are not here. I am going to the Ombudman on Monday cos Halifax will be charged for a complaint being logged aginst them.
I work for Capital One, and know we are getting s'mets out to people within about 10-15 days.

Got the missus to phone the normal number and she spoke to someone who mentioned about the 40 days told them that had passed a loooonnnnnng time ago women said she would email and they should be here within the next ten days

I filled in the online complaint to the information commisioner last friday but not heard anything from them either !!!! is there somewhere we can complain about the people that deal with the complaints :rotfl:

    Hi

Go straight to the Financial Ombudsman. The banks are cgarged £400.00 for every complaint received about them even though they may be in the right. If the banks are not capable of responding after 40 days to a simple request then they deserve everything they get.
I only know this cos I work for Capital One and we are working to very tight deadlines in sending out statements in about 10 days.

Hi folks I am after some advice. I have just recieved my statement for one account with halifax, awaiting two other statements. The statements that have come back come to £4,000 thats not including the interest that has been charged. I have sent the letters to the Halifax address in Yorkshire in the past but unsure whether to sent to Local Bank or both? Can you also advise me if I send all the list of charges and dates on a seperate sheet or copy of bank statements ? I have also sent letters to halifax credit card and they have not a responce, would you report this to the ombudsman.

Well i have the right ump!! after receiving my statements and discovering Halifax owe me £4,009.00 i sent 1st letter, seven days later a letter of 'get lost, we have already had the crimbo party on you and we dont do refunds' arrived, so i sent 2nd letter of 'well i didnt have a party coz you nicked all my money, so i'll get my refund through the courts then if you dont cough up in 14 days.

Thought i would try my luck as i have read threads where people have contacted the bank via phone to negotiate a deal, but got a reply of 'sorry but you are not the only one asking so you'll have to wait for a reply' i reminded her that as from tuesday i start legal recovery which will cost them an extra £1,167 on top because of the interest added when the judge agrees with me and also £250.00 in court costs surely it makes sense to come to an agreement with me now rather than pay an extra £1,300 odd in a months time.

She agreed but said 'go ahead with the court claim'

What infuriated me the most is that not only are they being the biggest pain in the a***s for giving you your money back but they are more than happy to pay extra than need be just to see if you have the balls to carry it out, and all because of course it is just being paid out by some other poor customer that is still paying the extortionate bank fees not the fat cat Directors wage packet. Grrrr i hate Halifax!!!!

    Hi,
Just got a letter back from Halifax saying the following:
"I have carried out a full investigation into your complaint and I am satisfied the charges have been correctly applied to your account.
When you opened your account, you agreed to the terms and conditions which explained that the charges would be applied if you did not keep to the terms of the account. This information formed part of your agreement with us and we have applied them strictly according to the terms agreed.
I am sorry to advise you I am declining your complaint. If you still remain unhappy you can refer your concerns to the Financial Ombudsman."

Is this a standard letter? If so do I push with the court claim? Any help would be gratefully recieved
Hi I have just been sent this exact same format letter this morning. I have been trying to call them on the 01244 693854 number, but guess what...its engaged constantly!!

Have you taken this further yet? Has anyone else out there? Should I send another letter or go straight to the courts?? Its not even for much money, but I am loathed to let them win.

I also reclaimed joint account charges at First Direct, they were exceptionally quick and paid up straight away.

My first letter to Halifax was sent on the 16 Jan, they then said they had not received it, so I then emailed it on 21 feb, they have then sent me 2 further letters trying to buy time. then today 4 months after my first letter they send me this rubbish standard letter declining me. Sorry I will get off my soapbox now.

Any help or advice greatly received.
