Had to laugh when 'claiming bank charges' was option number 1
I was told the claims are taking 6-8 weeks(after a lenthly 20 minutes on hold). i've only sent in my first letter i'm not waiting that long i'm sending out my second letter tomorrow.
I would go ahead and send in your letter.0 -

Halifax kindly sent me 20 envelopes with my statements in today. I only sent the request on the 1st, delivered on the 3rd.
I sent my statement request by special delivery to my local branch and called a week later to confirm they had had my request. And volla!
Now here comes the fun bit!0 -
I am delighted to inform you that I received the full amount £3700 which includes 8% interest + MCOL fee + warrant fee from HBoS.
HBoS had acknowledged but did not submit defence by day 28 (Monday). I filed for judgement on Tuesday, it was issued Wednesday and I had them issue warrant this morning and the money was in my account this afternoon.
It was £80 short which I shall ask them for tomorrow.
Now for issuing my MCOL for an old credit card!

Thank you for your encouragement and well done you on your good news! I have sent off the letter today threatening legal action and I am going to ring tomorrow to say I am not happy with their response and see if I get as lucky as you. Thanks again and hope you get your money soon.0

Hello all,
I'm a newbie... 1st time posting on forums. Advice please!
I'm in the process of claiming back my bank charges, after following martins steps.
I looked back through my bank statements (yep, had all of them hoarded away) Well, I only had 6 charges in all the time that I banked in Scotland with the Halifax (5yrs) these charges have all occurred in the last year, and total £234. I know it doesn't seem like much, but I figure that I'm entitled to reclaim it back anyway... Every penny counts, especially with a munchkin on the way!! So I've made a claim with interest... The banks look for any excuse to charge us interest, turn about is fair play, I reckon!!
I'm just checking if anyone has the had any experience on what to do after sending off the 2nd letter stating that I would proceed to claim through court if I didn't receive settlement. I sent the 2nd letter on 14th May, (after receiving a letter saying that I agreed to their terms and conditions when I opened the account, they feel that it is reasonable for them to charge for their service when customer's have insufficient funds in their account, therefore making more work for them..I fail to see how charging £39 is reasonable though!)
I'm a bit confused about how to go about taking this further to the small claims court in Scotland, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hopefully they'll get back to me before the 28th May, but just incase they don't I just want to be prepared to take it all the way if need be.
Thanks

Finally got a reply from the Halifax with the letter saying " Iam pleased to enclose the information you requested. I hope this has provided you with the details you require"
Problem being it only has one sheet of A4 with a lsit of charges from 01-02-2001 until 05-11-2003
So whats happened to the rest ?
Is it proper statements that everyone else has recieved or just a break down of charges ?
So basically according to this i havent had a charge since november 2003 which is complete nonsense
What next anyone help please0 -
