Hi, can anyone please help. I received a final letter from Halifax this morning saying that they have looked into the comlaint, which took 9 1/2 wks I might add. It says that they are happy that the charges are fair and are declining my request for refund of charges. I have noticed a few other people are also now receiving these letters. Is it another stalling tactic from Halifax and if so, where do I go from here. Do I go through MCOL or Fos. Please help.

If the bank take the £10 from your account for sending the statements and after nearly 60 days have still not sent the statements can this be called theft ?

if i payed for something in a shop or online and it wasnt delivered in a reasonable time I would think it was theft

So far i have sent the 1st letter waited the 40 days then sent the 2nd letter and waited the 7 days in between calling the bank and also going into my local branch and then finally filled in the online information commisioners form and sent but so far not heard anything from anybody ....

Does nobody reply to anything these days ?

    What now

My mother is claiming her charges from the Halifax and sent the first letter over 40 days ago. No reply, so she rang them and they said they had never recieved it. She didn't send it recorded delivery and they haven't cashed the cheque. What should she do next? If they flatly refuse t acknowledge they've had it, and she doesn't have her charges info, will she have to go through it all again and wait another 40 days?

Hi there I also had this letter but rang the number at the top and said that I was not happy with this and that i would be taken them to court, they said ok they would look into it again for me but couldn't give me a time scale.
The next week I had a letter offering me £2588.00 I re rang the (new) number at the top said i was still not happy we barted a bit and have recived a letter 2day confurming our agreed amount of £5000.00!!
(more info of my happenings on the success thread)

My advice would be to hang in there and give them a ring ;)

    good luck :D

Yes, you have no proof the letter was sent. Do it again but use recorded delivery.
  • I received my letter from the Halifax this morning after an 8wk wait

"we have carried out a investigation and they are satisfied that the charges were correctly applied to my account"

I have just got off the phone with them and where they tried to scare me by telling me about a recent case that went to court & the bank was ruled in favour, I said thats fine but thats just one case lost against the many others that are won, i told them i would be serving them with the court papers & was told that is your perogative which it is, he told me he would pass it over to a Customer relations manager & that this may take another 8wks I agreed for him to do this but told him i would get the court papers prepared at my end and would indeed still be serving them, so fingers crossed from now

I am just a bit curious… Have filled my claim with MCOL and it was served on the 14th May.

Are Halifax pretty quick acknowledging claims or do they wait till the last minute like with every other aspect of claiming charges??

When did you issue claim as I did mine last week and it has not been served yet??

Wondering if it is because maybe put wrong address on claim. I used the Leeds address as thought this was the right one but see somebody has given the Trinity Road one...............which one did you use?
