halifax bank charges (merged)

No, I got the offer on friday afternoon, they offered £4398 and I am claiming £6405. I had to haggle a bit, saying the offer was unfair and I would take it further if I didn't get what I was asking for etc. They phoned yesterday and offered the full amount.
Read my previous posts though, I will update!!0 -
If I were you, i would give them a call and tell them your not happy etc. and your going to take the next step, then wait a week. It's only a week and may save you the court cost, but reading through the posts, there seems to be a pattern! If you go to the FOS it costs them £400 straight away and they will be investigated. Likewise if they go to court, it could open a pandoras box.

Another newbie so any advice would be great
I finally plucked up the courage to write to halifax for a list of all my charges over the last 6 years. I did this on 31.3.07 and i know they received my letter on 3.4.07 as i sent it recorded delivery
However i still havent received my statements to proceed to the second step
Should i be ringing the Halifax and asking why or give them a bit more time?
I have just checked and they havent even cashed my cheque yet.
I cant proceed until i know what the total charges are. When does the 40 days for providing this information start from?0 -
hi all,
I wrote my bank a letter before action letter saying I want my money within 14 days or I'll go to court. their response was a rubbish offer or 125 out the 490 im claiming, unfortunately I didnt do anything else untill I found the letters and my files today. they say in the offer letter that if they do not hear from me within 8 weeks they will assume that I am happy..... Im not happy but that letter was sent on 27th september 2006. can I still just take them to court now even though its months after? or should I send another letter before action note rejecting their offer and setting a new deadline for them?0 -
Hello all this is my first post so please help!!
Again im claiming form Halifax, I am now at the stage of takign them to court, I have a hearing date for 22nd May.
They have as yet made NO offers at all, but sent me a letter in reply to the court papers saying, they have cahrged me under the terms and conditions fo the contract that I signed, but unlike some banks are stillc allign them charges instead of trying to wrap them up as fees, what do i do now?
I am preparing to go to court on Tuesday becuase of the idiotic ruling of the Birmingham Judge in the recent case, does nayone have any idea on how I should argue the whole point? And under what laws these points realte to (just in case i need to).
The way I see though, win or lose, I am no worse off than I am now.
Thanks All xx0 -
Re:the case against lloyds. there is a whole thread on it and martins blog. probably amounts to a bit of a glitch but still continue- more winners than loosers really!!! I know i am pursuing it- and was cheered to hear yesterday when visiting my local branch that an employee there is pursuing abbey for charges- I would have thought they would have stopped if any changes were being made.Duct tape is like the force. You carry on with your next letter or start court procedure depending on what stage you are at.

I am just a bit curious… Have filled my claim with MCOL and it was served on the 14th May.
Are Halifax pretty quick acknowledging claims or do they wait till the last minute like with every other aspect of claiming charges??0 -
Halifax are annoying me now!
capital one have had excelent response time, even halifax credit card has (lol still at court stage with capital one and waiting for a few days before i apply for halifax credit card court) halifax bank havent even sent statements yet!!! i called and they say they have 40 days and i will get them by then...its is now 35 days and they won't even log in to check for me when i call. does it really take this long?!?!
