See the Reclaiming Bank Charges Help thread.
If it is for the request for statements, use the address for their data protection department. If it is for the claim letter or court claim, use their registered address.
A local branch can only forward your letter, creating an unecessary delay. The banks are quite good enough at delaying things, without our help. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
Does anyone have the number for them.
They sent me a message to say they had 8 weeks to respond but I am fed up of waiting.
I have misplaced the letter, so if anyone could give me the number I would be grateful

Just wanted to share my partial success story!
I contacted Halifax for details of all the charges I've paid. They sent me supposedly statements from the past six years, but two years' worth were missing. I wrote again to complain about this, but I don't think they actually read my letter, as they seemed to think I was complaining about the bank charges themselves. Without me even asking, they refunded me about £500!
I did finally get a list of all the charges I've paid, and it comes to over £800, so I'm still going to go after the rest - but even if I don't get them, this £500 is a big help to me in getting out of debt.
I hope everyone else has similarly good luck.0 -
I hope its that easy for us. My Other half friend is cliaming a total of 10k from 5 banks!
Unfortunatley as soon as the statments arrive its muggins here who is going to go through his statments. However I do get cups of coffee made.
Actually quite excited about them coming! HE really needs the money at the moment0 -
Hi all.
Have posted a few times on here. But it was reading all the peoples comments and support on here that kept me going.
Followed all the links on Martins site and filed my claim on MCOL. Halifax didnt enter their defence on time and Judgement was issued. I waited for the Halifax to contact me or send me my money. They didnt. So i tried sorting this out with them for a whole week. They kept telling me my cheque was in the post. but two weeks later the cheque still hadnt turned up.
I know the post can be slow sometimes but that was surely taken the michael... The last time i spoke to them i told them they had long enough and i was issuing a warrant as had been told so many occaisions that the cheque had been posted to which the lady said... she had never said that.
As far as i can see they were all told to keep just fobbing me off. Well i had enough and issued the warrent. Now if they dont pay up the Bailiffs are going in.
I am now in the process of taking the Halifax credit card services to court.
Does anyone know how the case today will effect all of this? The case of the Bank winning?
I thought it was cos the costs are unlawful amounts???
Will i still have a case against them??

There are Martin thoughts and a link to the BBC website which tells more. The customer plans to appeal.
As Martin says it is one judge being ignorant and not reading between the lines.
There is another story where another judge told Llyods TSB to pay cost for time wasting.
It has happened were the baliffs are sucessful. Remember when the Tesco had the baliffs stop sale of drink in one store.0 -
"A white van man has taken on the might of Tesco and won.
In what has been described as a “modern day David and Goliath” battle, David Bond, 59, from Swindon, took on the supermarket giant after it refused to compensate him fully for damage done to his van by contaminated fuel.
Despite Tesco’s admission of liability for selling Mr Bond 61 litres of diesel that had been contaminated with water in November 2003, it balked at paying more than 25 per cent of his £3,400 repair bill for the damaged engine. After chasing the debt for three years Mr Bond finally secured a High Court judgment against Tesco in December. As the supermarket chain continued to stall, the court ordered enforcement officers to impound goods until it had cleared its debt.
So last Thursday shoppers at the St Oswald’s Road Tesco Extra store in Gloucester watched open-mouthed as bailiffs strolled in and roped off £60,000 of its finest wines and liquors. Staff were warned that they would be in contempt of court if if they tried to sell the goods, which remained in the store under the “walking possession” of the bailiffs."
See not even Tesco is beyond the reach of the law0 -
