My son who is still at school doing A Levels gets his EMA into the Halifax.
He received a letter this morning from them saying they would be taking £39.00 from his acccount on 11th May as he went overdrawn by 61p.I phoned them up and after speaking to me and my son they will not take this charge they said as a goodwill gesture.I am pleased I rang before they took it as it looks like its harder to get a refund.
Thanks to Martin at least we were able to act promptly.
How can charges like this for just pence be justified when they know he has money in nearly every week????????

popped into halifax today and the really helpful girl looked on the computer and saw that the statements had not even been logged on the pc, she apologised millions of times and reordered them free of charge for me. Im quite annoyed that they took my money and then didnt even order them. She even said that if they are not with me in ten working days she would sort it out personally. Keep yah updated im a bit nervous about all this but im going for it because I cant belive they charged me all the time when I was a student!! anyone else had any good news from them? :) Carla :)

How come you waited so long?

    First letter - 14 days

if no reply or standard bog off letter then LBA giving another 14 days.

If no money or more BS letters after those 14 days then court action.

The banks will quite happily sit and let you wait until you need to buy Grecian 2000 in bulk.

You set the timelines, you keep to the timelines. If you don't then you will wait for an unnecessarily long time before you get your money. Additionally the bank will perceive you to be an easy touch.
Hamsters have no tact and diplomacy, nor do they want any.
  • I have two accounts with halifax and they both owe me bank charges. I'm at the point of court as they wont budge on there 8 weeks to investigate.

Firstly has anybody waited and had sucess or should i just go MCOL way.

Secondly does anyone know if i can combined both bank accounts with the court (as is 120.00 a time) or is it best to treat each account as a seperate claim. Thank you

    Hello all

    My story so far….

Wrote to Halifax requesting charges back on the 15th March & got the standard 4 week letter back.
After 4 weeks no money just an another letter saying we will sort out within 8 weeks.
After 6 weeks I sent the LBA giving them 2 weeks to respond.
After 8 weeks got a letter from Halifax refusing to payout.
Phoned the number on the letter to try and discuss but was told it was my fault for incurring charges and there are no laws to stop them charging……
The options were take them to court or let them have another look which would take another 6 weeks.

Needless to say I have started the claim using Money Claim on Line.

Has any one has got this far?? Does any one have any words of wisdom?? Better yet has any one got any success stories…??
