...well I just phoned my branch and after having me on hold for a while. She told me that they are on order and it takes a considerable long time to do this from 6-8 weeks. So I asked her should I be receiving them next week and she said that maybe. So I go ahead and complaint to the information commissioner?

yes i would complain but i think its worth the trip to the bank tho whats a few miles to try and get your charges

Hi all, I posted a message on here a few days ago about still not havinga reply from Halifax from my original letter asking for the details of my charges on my account. They said they would get back to me by the end of this week - still nothing! Should I send another letter? If so - what should I say? And do you think I should just go down to my branch tomorrow? Any suggestions would be gratefully received

go into your branch and say your not happy and they have gone over the 40 days therefore you would like them emailed to branch immediately and did this and got them straight away and free of charge

I started by contacting my local Halifax branch requesting a list of charges, and enclosing a £10 cheque. Four days later I receive a reply stating that they were unable to list the charges separately, but would supply all my statements, and returning my cheque since this was a free service. Two days later all my statements for the last six years arrived. 650 pages in 113 separate letters! the postman was not impressed.
Spent a day looking through and listing all the charges (Total £2000), then sent the step two letter. Then I received a reply from customer services saying how sorry they were that I was dissatisfied with their service, and that they would need eight weeks to investigate. I then wrote back saying that it was a simple clear-cut complaint that required no more than 14 days to investigate, and if I didn't get a satisfactory reply in that time, I would start court action. To date no further reply has been received, so I started proceedings last Monday. We shall see what happens next...

Has anyone else had a response like this?

I got politely but firmly stroppy wiv c/relations dept. this afternoon. I got the same letter as you & I was so angry that they think that they can intimidate us & fob us off wiv such cr*p...
Mr Snotty seemed delighted that I intend to start court proceedings to obtain disclosure; He then suddenly found that someone had got my statements in the post this morning....But I would receive them in approx. 7 days as Halifax have until the 10th to reply to the Ombidsman....I'll believe it when I have the statements in my hands...I HATE ARROGENT GITS!!!!

I too had written twice to Halifax with 2 cheques and phoned them and nothing. Yesterday I went in to my local branch and walked out half an hour later with a list of all charges on two accounts for free! I would certainly recommend to anyone visiting their branch and trying to get them. You've got nothing to lose! Good luck. I have today now worked out my interest and sent my two letters in to Halifax by recorded delivery. Here's hoping!:p

I have been waiting over 40 days now for my Halifax statements but it is 40 calendar days (not working days) so I don't know if that makes a difference. I guess if it is 40 working days you are meant to wait (mon-fri) it means I've got another 2 weeks or so to go. They have cashed my cheque too (over 3 weeks ago!), which is very annoying. I phoned them and they said that they are currently inundated with requests...they gave me a special helpline number that just turned out to be a recorded message! I'm going to give them another week then phone again.

40 consecutive days not including weekends

go to branch in person and request them by email to branch as they have exceeded deadline:T

Apparently businesses have to pay when they are investigated by the Ombidsman, £400 for each case, whether they are found wrong or right..!!!

    HA HA HA:rolleyes:
