Well, the 40 days are up and also the 7 days are up too and the £10 cheque has been cashed. I am getting really annoyed now by Halifax.

So, I need to give them a ring tomorrow. Does anyone know the best number to phone and should I tell them that I am going ahead and submitting a complaint to the information commissioner? Can anyone give me some idea as what to say?

    Thanks

go to branch and say you ve been waiting for 7 weeks for your statements and they havent arrived they ll check and say they havent received anything ( obviously ) say you want them to send via email your charges as they have gone over the 40 days

halifax are losing letters left right and centre or misplacing them cos they re that busy,

you should get them and for free

Hi Reaper, I now live 30 miles away from my branch as I moved home. Could I phone the branch? Would they still send them out?

...well I just phoned my branch and after having me on hold for a while. She told me that they are on order and it takes a considerable long time to do this from 6-8 weeks. So I asked her should I be receiving them next week and she said that maybe. So I go ahead and complaint to the information commissioner?

Well, the Halifax have taken all my income support. I have been unable to
contact the DWP since last week and now they are on strike. I've not long
come out of hospital so cannot get to the office.

The Halifax have now effectively given me an unauthorised overdraft and
charging me for it. They are totally ignoring me. I have no food, gas or electric.

I'm too ill to cope with all this. Is there someone I can contact for immediate
help? I know I'm asking the impossible.

This has been happening to me too. As soon as my benefit went into my account, the Halifax took it upon them self to take it to pay my credit card. I went down and demanded to see the manager, the first time I got it all back, the second time they kept £70. Yesterday I went down again and quoted the DWP act and demanded they return ALL the money they have taken from my benefits. I was told they would contact me today and let me know what they decided.
I advise you either call or go down there (The Halifax) and quote what is posted here and demand it back. Plus get your charges back.
    Good luck.

Has anyone else had a response like this?
Just recieved the same letter. Is it a 2 page letter with the points:
    Our Investigation
    Why you have been charged?
    How we can help?
    Outcome

if so I'm glad I'm not the only person to recieve this letter! Already filed with MCOL 2 weeks a go and they have acknowledged and intend to defend all of the claim. Are the banks starting to turn these things around or will I still get my money back? Should I back down?

Hi all, I posted a message on here a few days ago about still not havinga reply from Halifax from my original letter asking for the details of my charges on my account. They said they would get back to me by the end of this week - still nothing! Should I send another letter? If so - what should I say? And do you think I should just go down to my branch tomorrow? Any suggestions would be gratefully received

It's all done online unless/until you have to physically show up in court.

I have been waiting over 40 days now for my Halifax statements but it is 40 calendar days (not working days) so I don't know if that makes a difference. I guess if it is 40 working days you are meant to wait (mon-fri) it means I've got another 2 weeks or so to go. They have cashed my cheque too (over 3 weeks ago!), which is very annoying. I phoned them and they said that they are currently inundated with requests...they gave me a special helpline number that just turned out to be a recorded message! I'm going to give them another week then phone again.

I had the recorded message then phoned back and was told it was 40 days since the cheque was cashed

Sent the 2nd letter giving them 7 days or a complaint will be made
