halifax bank charges (merged)

  • Yeah while I'm making my claim process Halifax added another charge on. Its the exceeding overdraught charge..which for some reason even though the event happened in Feb. They dinged us once in March and again in April. What a bank!

Anyway, I was just about to go to MCOL today and start legal proceedings. Should I fax them and inform them I have added on to my schedule the additional charges? I don't know why they don't phone me. I have provided my mobile number on my faxes so scratching my head.

I did get their standard acceptance letter and acceptance form. But refused to sign it (good thing I didn't). I haven't heard back from them so just have to go ahead with court. Its a pain ain't it?

I would phone them, but I'm just too impatient to wait...listening to spam and elevator music.

    Hi all
To all of you out there waiting for a relpy to the first letter requesting a copy of your charges save yourself time and money. I first applied back in December for the list of charges and the fourty days came and went and guess what? not a word from the bank that gives you extra!! So not being one to give-up without a fight I walked into my local branch. They were only too happy to order my statements and it didn't cost a penny. One week later to the day and all my statements arrived. I have since recommended to all my fellow Halifax customers to go to the branch to request the statements.
I am currently at the MYCOL stage and Halifax have until the 14th to acknoeldge. Don't sit around waiting for a reply, stick to your timescale and hang on in there.
    :)

exactly thats what i keep saying best to go to your local branch:rotfl:

Looking for a wee bit of advice please. I'm claiming charges from both Halifax and Bank of Scotland and both came in with offers yesterday of half of the amount claimed. Anyone else experienced this? Should I accept or chance my arm and try to reclaim the total amount?

I would advise you press for the whole amount. It may take a bit longer but you should get a full refund.

    Thanks, Lorna

you will get the full amount but accepting the offer depends on your own personal circumstances if you can afford to carry on then go for it
    good luck!!!!

Well, the Halifax have taken all my income support. I have been unable to
contact the DWP since last week and now they are on strike. I've not long
come out of hospital so cannot get to the office.

The Halifax have now effectively given me an unauthorised overdraft and
charging me for it. They are totally ignoring me. I have no food, gas or electric.

I'm too ill to cope with all this. Is there someone I can contact for immediate
help? I know I'm asking the impossible.

You obviously need to seek legal advise about them taking your benefit illegally so Citizens advise bureau might be able to help but if they are anything like my local one they are only open a couple of days a week and you have to make an appointment.

I'd suggest going to benefits office and tell them the situation and ask them to pay your benefit via giro or order book until you have got the charges back and sorted the situation out.

It totally disgusting that your bank is doing this to you, don't let the B*$!!!!'s
    get away with it!

    Hope you get better soon

  • hey lil update on my case
im still waiting for my other part of the statements im owed i only got backdated to jun 2004, i phoned to complain and 3 times i supposedly had comments made on the computer against my case, i then get a letter telling me they are now in a position to offer me a full list of charges against my account (which was 3 weeks ago)
seemingly their policy has now changed and they will give everyone a full list of charges
well i will let you know if this is true or not once i get them
i finally got a list of my statements from halifax visa yesterday after sending them off 1st march, the branch directed them to wrong dept
i sent a letter to pitrevie business park address (scotland) and i got my statements within 5 days (i also decided i would say ive enclosed the £10 cheque and didnt) so i got them for free haha
