Morning everybody
Following on from my post yesterday where Halifax denied receiving my request despite the cheque being cashed, I have this morning received a one page statement from them listing all my charges for the past 6 years thus saving me having to filter through pages and pages of statements. Firstly, is this their process now to save on paperwork, time etc and secondly should I demand the actual statements to double check the charges are all present and correct? I have checked as far back as I could myself from my online statements and they all appear to be there.
Thanks

hi beaker, as far as i am aware, this is the way they are doing it now as they have been so inundated it is easier and quicker to do it like that. i received the same list and checked them all against the statements i already had and found them to be correct so just made my claim against the list they provided. i then received their usual "we have 8 weeks blah blah" and have now issued the LBA. all done on my timescale and not theirs. good luckhalifax bank claimed £4803 (£5863.88 inc%) paid £6143.29 :j
CapitalOne card claiming £478 (£609.18 inc%) paid £689.71 :j
Citicards claiming £700 (£888.23 inc%)
halifax bank (account 2) claiming £543.15 (£564.09 inc%) put on hold due to OFT outcome0 -
Strangely I got all my statements for the last 5 years (scotland) and they even gave me back the £10 postal order i sent.
It might be differt tactics from different branches0 -
Sorry we are new to this lark so apologies if we ask a question that has already been asked/answered.
We have written to HBOS with a list of the charges and received a standard "Due to FSA rules we must comply within 8 weeks but will advise you in 4 weeks of the current situation blah blah blah"
In one of the replies above is states to ignore this and issue the LBA letter after the 14 days stated ion our letter.
My question is "What is an LBA"
Sorry if a dumb question0 -

This is my first post re reclaiming bank charges - I'm only in the very early stages. I've written to both the Halifax and TSB to ask for duplicate bank statements....I sent the letters recorded delivery on April 26th (last Saturday ie 6 days ago). I've been tracking the letters via the Royal Mail website and the TSB received theirs on the Monday but the Halifax haven't had theirs yet?? If they refused delivery would that show up? I'm a bit wary of sending them another letter in case they cash the cheque I sent them - how long would you wait before sending another letter and cheque??
Thanks in advance for any help!!
They can't refuse delivery, one of the recorded letters I sent to the Halifax didn't show up on the Royal Mail's track and trace function. It all depends on whether the postie who delivers the letters scans in the signature to the system, if they don't then they can't be traced. In my case I just assumed that it had been delivered the following day and gave them 14 days from there.
However, when I sent my official claim I paid for guaranteed next day delivery to be sure of having proof of receipt at their end.0 -
hi everyone i have been looking at the forums on this fantastic site for some time now and i finally decided to reclaim my bank charges back from halifax. anyway i am one of those people who keep all bank statements as i learnt from previous experience that when u get wrongly charged or have a dispute u always need your bank statments so i have mine going back 6 years! i went through them all and discovered i had paid £1020 bank charges since 2003 so i sent off the first letter to halifax on 15 march 07 got a reply on 28 march saying it would be delt with by 20 april received another standard letter on 18 april stating they are sorry i am unhappy with the service i have received and they apologise that i have not yet had a full response to my concerns and they are still investigating my complaint and i will receive a response from them as soon as possible but certainly no later then 22 may 2007. so i am wondering what i should do now should i wait till 22 may or should i send a letter saying that they were given 14 days and as i havnt received a satisfactory response i am starting court proceedings? also i have received more charges since the first letter was sent what do i do about this? also i had a letter from them (a different dept) saying they are closing my account on monday due to me being overdrawn by £128 how will this affect my claim? any help much appreciated! thanks guys!0

hi, stick to your time limit not theirs. you gave them 14 days to comply and if they havent when the 14 days are up send the LBA and add all the new charges to it too. as for them closing your account, im not too sure about that one maybe its a scare tactic or maybe they will. did you open a parachute account first?

I just thought about ringing the 01244 694695 number to see if they'll settle before I file my claim online.
Is there any point ringing on a Saturday or is it better to wait until Monday?0 -
