    Hi there,

Can anyone give me an alternative number to the 08457 253519 complaints line? I've been on hold for well over an hour now...

All I want is an update on my situation!

    Thanks

Hi everyone, I'm new to the Halifax thread! Been on the Barclays one doing my own claim but am now doing my friends for her and am wondering at what point Halifax tend to settle. I've just raised the MCOL claim today for a total of £1,457.39 (£1,226 charges + £111.39 interest + £120 court fee).

Any advice from successful Halifax claimants!?!?

I phoned the Halifax today pointing out their £78 charges are more than
I have going into the bank each week. I'll have no money to live on,
an un-authorised overdraft, charges for not haviing money to
cover their charges and more charges if I don't cancel a small
direct debit due next week. They may as well make me bankrupt.

He was about to reverse the charges when he spotted a notice on my
account saying I was not to be issued with any refunds. (I have had
a refund when they made a payment early).

It ended up with him offering to send me an application for a list of all my
charges in the last 6 years. He warned me though, there is a big backlog!
I wont wait for that form though. I'll send a letter, as soon as I can borrow £10.

I didn't even get 7 days notice of charges so had no chance to cancel my bacs, so my
income support will be taken by the Halifax.
To say I'm feeling pretty desperate is an understatement.
  • Hi, I have had the same response from Halifax. Debating whether to start MCOL or whether to give them extra time. I don't suppose you have the phone number for customer relations handy? & some advice on what to say when on the phone?
    Thanks.

Just a quick post to say thank you very much for everyone that helped me claim my money back from Halifax including you Martin.

I started the claim in Jan 07 and today received a letter from the Halifax offering £274 half the money that I was claiming £548 in total.

I called customer relations stating that I was not happy with the offer and unless full payment was offered today I will be filing a claim. He spoke to his supervisor and 5 seconds later come back to the phone and said that full payment of £548 will be settled within 14 days.

Now just waiting on the OH's claim. Thank you so much on again.:D

    excellant well done.

Just a little warning tho.. I've been waiting 14 days now (up today) and rang Halifax - been told they're extending the 14 days to put money into our accounts by up to 21 days as they are so busy. Just expect to wait between 14 and 21 days :j
We will win this! we will!.... and we did! :j :p

I never started MCOL with HBOS, I could not afford it, I just sat and waited till they got back to me and on the 6wk they offered me my money back.

It's up to you if you sit out and wait or start MCOL

    Goodluck either way
