Thanks for that info but did you have to pay the £10.00 over the phone ?? Just noticed that I am missing a few statements from the year 2003. Just checking before I get onto the phone

There's a £5 charge which will be taken direct from my account.

  • I have recently requested 6 years worth of bank statements from the "Hell-ifax" to check for bank charges.

I checked all 116 pages and not one charge is listed. However, spoke to CS and they tell me I was in fact charged on 07/05/2003. Does anyone know why the charges are not listed. Do you think they are withholding information?

Any ideas before I go into my branch with a rocket.

    Thanks.
  • Thought I had the same problem, in the end i found 2 charges in whole of 6 years of stx. But seems obviouse somethings gone wrong with yours, and as im sure i had more than 2 charges itll be interesting to see your outcome.

    Hi,

I'm new to this forum and am after a little help. I have been proceeding with my claim since the beginning of December. I have already requested and recieved my statements and sent a letter requesting repayment of charges. Today I recieved a bog standard letter back saying that they are unable to do so as "there has been on error on behalf of the Halifax". I am now in the process of writing to them and infprming them that if they do not repay the charges in the next 14 days I will be taking them to court. My question is that on the letter it says to put in the name of the court but I intend to use the Moneyclaim web site. Does anyone know what name I should put there or should I just reword the letter and miss that bit out?

Any Help would be grately appreciated.

Check out post six of this thread and find your local county court. This is the court you fill in.

actually when I requested this over the phone yesterday no mention of £2.00. Didn't have for the statements for the whole year just the charges. Should be with me by the end of next week.

Can't wait to get cracking on with it now.

  • For all those people out there who like me are effected by English reserve, I encourage you to rise up and claim your charges back.

I am a single dad of 3, who after a messy divorce and custody battle 5 years ago(which I was lucky enough to gain custody of my chilblains) got into a spiral of monthly bank charges. This year was the first year I was able to finally get control of my bank account and stop my extra monthly outgoings(i.e. bank charges).

unfortunately at the end of November this year I went £4.90 over my overdraft limit. I use Halifax's internet banking service. I got stuck in traffic, was late for work and couldn't transfer money from my savings account quickly enough to cover a cheque.

Within 10 mins of transferring some money I recieved an e-mail telling me of a£30 bank charge. Ironically the e-mail went on to say that if I used their internet banking service I would be able to control my money easier!!!!

I then phoned the call centre who are about as much use as a bicycle with one wheel. They basically told me to go away.

In a fit of anger I demanded 5 years worth of statements, these promptly arrived 3 days later and again 5 days later for good measure.

I am happy to report that after I sent my first letter on 9th December claiming £2645 worth of charges, I recieved a letter on Thursday offering me £2166. English reserve once again establishing itself in my brain, I have accepted their offer, which was better than a smack in the chops.

I would just like to pass on my thanks to this forum, on which I have ummed and arred over during many hours of should I or shouldn't I. for giving me the tools(and the bottle) to take on one of the banks.

Just a thought Do you know for certain that you have had charges on the account and roughly when? If so I would go into your local branch and ask for a print-out on your account from just before the date your think the charges were added. The point being that if you get this print-out and there are charges showing (which RBS's my ex bank do) and they aren't on the info from head office you'll have proof that they're withholding info and you can go get 'em, preferably via a judge to stop them doing it again to some other poor soul.

Again, this is just an idea but if you're accessing the same information from a different source you never know, it might just work.
