halifax bank charges (merged)

If your mortgage is in good order, and not in arrears. You shouldn't have any problems. It seems that when the banks are asking for accounts to be closed, it's only the account that has had the charges reclaimed they want closed. All loan and mortgages are seperate agreements. I haven't seen one case yet that the banks have tried to close these because of charges reclaimed with the same bank on a seperate account.
Go for it!!! Good luck. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I had another charge from them yesterday. £4.98 overdrawn although there was money in there. Husband rushed to pay the £5.00 in by close of play on wednesday but after reallllyyyyyy long and reapeating themselves chats over the phone they said it was for the cheque. I was always under the impression if you paid a bill via your debit card the day before as long as the money is in then I was covered.
I was crying after the phone call and my husband had to take over the call. Can't afford for them to take out £30.00 next week especially on the day my benefits are paid in ??
Any luck in having anything back. Was gonna call them back this morning but yesteday they had no "Season of goodwill".
We are that skint my husband is going out today to get more tonner for the printer and then I will be putting in a claim for the past 5 years with them:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -
rob38 wrote:Hi sent letter off 15th dec recorded to local branch. Gote letter back today saying he has passed on to his customer relations department and they will respond directly to u within a four week period. Should i stick to 14 days? and then send letter no2. And should i send letter no2 to my local branch or head office Halifax.
I had this same letter back when I sent my request to my local branch. As yet I haven't had a full reply but I am sticking to the 14 days. If you don't they will just use this as a way of dragging it out and think you are not serious. Stick to the time limits and letters, etc. as you the one in the right0 -

Did you send the £10.00 fee first requesting the statements or did you jump straight onto the 1st letter ?? Would like to get the ball rolling today and although I have all my statements from the last 5 years not sure which one to do first.
Thanks for any help:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -
If you already have all your statements, there is no need to ask for them again. Total up all your charges, and send your first letter asking for them back. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I think this was mentioned earlier on - but just to reiterate again.
If you want your list of charges quickly, rather than waiting the 40 days
or more, just ring 08457 20 30 40, and press 5 to speak to someone. I spoke to a lovely lady, and received my statements in 5 days.
Just my 2 cents for speeding this whole process up.
Cheers

Is it possible to reclaim charges from a closed account. Its been closed for about 3 years and was opened about 9 years ago, pretty sure there 3 or 4 charges in there somewhere.0

I sent off a letter requesting my statements last week and then spotted the advice on here to just ring up and ask for them. I've just done it and it worked, so I will get the statements alot quicker than i thought!
The lady i spoke to wanted to know why I wanted 6 years worth of statements and was it anything to do with recent press regarding bank charges. She tried to get me to speak to someone in the complaints department as it would be better to try and discuss the matter first. YEAH RIGHT! Of course I refused- I want to know exactly how much I've been charged over the last 6 years as if the last 6 months are anything to go by I'm owed a small fortune! There is no way I'm going to let them fob m off with a tiny settlement figure!0 -
Shaw i send it to their H/O in yorkshire or to my local branch?0
