I find it a bit strange that you claimed for a charge that handn't been paid yet. If you accept the £127 without prejudice, you are on strong ground. You can try asking for the £28 not to be taken as part of the agreement, but I don't know how the bank will take this. They may be OK with this, but they may also get the hump with you. They have offered 100% of your charges they have already taken, but you want to push for a charge that has not been paid yet.

It's completely your choice on how to proceed.

  • i know i didnt really expect to get an offer so soon to be honest so thats why i included it ! in hindsight, suppose i shouldnt really have. thanks for your help :-)
  • I am at the stage of waiting for a reply to my first letter. I am owed £2010.00 plus interest. Should it get to the stage that I have to go to court, is there any way I can raise the court fee from anywhere else apart from my own funds - I understand the fee is £150 which I cant really afford?

The court fee for the amount you will claim for is £120.

Have you not got friends or family you can borrow the money from?

Hi sent letter off 15th dec recorded to local branch. Gote letter back today saying he has passed on to his customer relations department and they will respond directly to u within a four week period. Should i stick to 14 days? and then send letter no2. • My Wife had to wait 4 weeks for all the statements to arrive but today after a letter claiming £2643.00 was sent some 3 weeks ago The Halifax has agreed to pay in full the amount she requested, the amount was only for the charges applied and she did not claim for the intrest.

You are not entitled to claim interest untill you issue a court claim anyway. If the bank settles before the court stage, they only have to pay the charges, not any interest. For people that are asking for the interest from the beginning of the claim, if the bank offered to settle only for the charges before it got to court. They would HAVE to settle for this.

  • Could anyone advise please.

Have decided to try to claim our back charges back from Hal*fax. Trouble is, our mortgage is with them too. My son successfully claimed £200 of £285 they 'stole' from him a few weeks ago, so we thought we would try to get our charges back too.

We've already been charged £90 this year alone. Times it by 6 years and it could add up to a pretty penny! My worry is though, that if we claimed the charges back from them they might 'turn funny' and ask us to pay up our mortgage out of nastiness. Our financial situation presently means that it would be nigh on impossible to get another mortgage if they decided to be nasty and close the mortgage. We might lose our house!!!

Has anyone come across this yet or have any advice on this situation? We would like our money back of course but would they be allowed to close our mortgage for claiming the charges back?
