Hi please could anyone help me

I filed a claim with the Halifax back in Jan, I am now in the process of still waiting for my money. I send a letter off to them a few weeks ago stating pay up within 14 days or I will start court proceeding.
I received a letter off them stating that they will deal with my case on or no later than 3rd April.

Court proceeding could start on thursday 19th April. I am really worried about this.

I am thinking of phoning them on wednesday to try and sort it, but really not sure what to say to them. Please could someone give me the phone number.

    Could anyone help me

    Thanks in advance
    Kate

i was worried when i started mcol and ive had support to calm me down a little

dont panic you ll get results its just another way of bully boy tactics from bank

dont contact them you have the power card in your hands just let the timescales take their course and let the bank give in to your demands im sure youll be fine

were all here to help and support you, at the moment courts are on our side and not theirs, theres many people that have got to your stage and won

keep ya chin up, dont worry be happy and let us know how you get on :money: :money:

    Hi
Just received a letter from the Halifax, I'm claiming £331 in charges and they've sent a letter stating £236 and if am not happy with that I should call them. I see other have had the same kind of letter, thing is am not good on the phone and although I would like more back you know say another £50 than I'd except.

Any tips for how to deal with this?

Take a deep breath, ring the direct line number and person will ask your name and reference no. They'll ask how they can help. You say you've received a letter offering a refund but you're not happy about the offer. They'll start and give you a speech along the lines of we're working with clients to come to agreements but they don't have to blah blah, I know it's rude but when there's a breather, just push in and say "Actually I'll be happy to settle at 300.00". They'll probably go away and come back and I your offer of settlement should be accepted.

Obviously this is only advice as it worked for me :p

Just give them a call and be very calm, explain that you will only accept the full amount you are claiming, they will give in and up their offer

I have a current account with the halifax I am a customer who has always stayed in credit for the time halifax has been a bank. I failed to check my account online for about three days and have gone overdrawn by £23.43 in one day only. I have received a letter charging me for one item of £35.65 at £30.00 and a cheque at £411.91 at £30.00 as i didnt have an overdraft facility as I have never needed one. Surely this cant be right and is there anything I can do about it.

They are able to charge you as per the terms and conditions of your account. You are equally able to reclaim these charges under the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts regulations as unfair penalties. :)

Write them a letter pointing out your previous good history and there is a good chance the charges will be refunded.

Remember as well, that its 'THEM' who are in the wrong for unlawfully taking your money in the first place!.. you are the one who is acting 'legally' and I might add 'Fairly'.
I was owed £1545.. ended up with a couple more charges which took it to just over £1600.. they offered me £1346 last saturday, I rang them yesterday, didnt even have to argue the toss, I asked for the whole £1600, knowing that they would knock me down a little, the man tried to offer me £1550, I said no thank you, but I will accept £1580.. he agreed without a quibble!!.. was on and off the phone within 2 mins!..

Good luck, just go for it!..
  • Another success story!

    Bank: Halifax
    Amount Reclaimed: £505
    Amount they paid: £400
    The story:
Gave them 7 weeks after 2nd letter, rang twice, absolute waste of time and money, on hold 13 and 6 minutes! but - letter arrived 5 days later offering £265, rang the direct number and spoke to a very nice helpful lady, Sarah Morton, she said she couldn't agree the full amount as apparently I'd been claiming more than (they say) my charges were!? She said she'd double checked and it's only £458, I don't actually agree that but Sarah did offer to send confirmation, I wanted it sorted now so asked what she would offer, she said £350, I asked for £400 and she agreed, no problem whatsoever.
First amount (£265)should be in my account by the 20th as this has "already been processed", remainder will be in within 14 days - I'm happy! :)
I am also eternally greatful to Martin, the members of this site, and for the template letters, without which I know I would not be posting this message!
