Result! : Amount initially requested was just under 10K.. amount going to receive.. just under 10K
I was one of the doubting Thomas', now I'm a believer in hanging on in there.:T
Congratulations. How long did it take from start to finish? Also did you threaten them with legal proceedings?
Well done !0 -
Halifax Bank
Total Claim £1278.23
I sent my first request for statements on 8th February.
Sent my letter asking for money back on 22/03/07 and 28/02/07.
Responce was they will investigate within 8 weeks.
11 April wrote saying I would accept £1000 within 14days as settlement but called them today and was told I wil have to wait in line.
I have faxed over letter asking for full amount £1278.23 within 7 days and that I will be issuing proceedings at 9am on Monday 23rd April.
I will keep you posted.

Thankyou!.. I started my crusade on 28th February with initial letter (I already had 6 yrs worth of statements - I'm a hoarder), followed up with the second letter on 9th March, received the usual 8 wk reply and was given date of 27th April for reply. Received offers through last Friday. So all in all approx 6 wks. I did the threatening of legal action but was told to "go ahead".. it makes no difference to them before the 8 wks are up.
Keep on hanging in there. It didn't make any difference how many calls I made, Halifax will only stick to 8 wk time limits. They are so inundated they've set up direct telephone numbers. We will win this! we will!.... and we did! :j

Beatpusher.. I didn't actually have to request statements as I save them anyway but I did have two seperate accounts and treat them as so.
I would do letters seperately for each and every account you have, keeping copies of everything and sending all three recorded delivery. Leave no stone unturned so to speak!
We will win this! we will!.... and we did! :j

I have the same query Archie - Can anyone help at all?? Not sure if I should wait the 4-8 weeks or go ahead and send the 2nd letter threatning legal proceedings.
Thanks
I asked this question on here back in March and was told stick to your own timescales and press on with second letter.. you will get there but expect to wait around the 6 - 8 wk mark.We will win this! we will!.... and we did! :j

Hi All
RESULT! An update for all, since my last post on 4th April advising of my offer and me turning it down, and Halifax offering all back to me, I had a further letter to confirm this dated the 8th April, giving them 14 days to deposit in bank. I thought I would phone them this morning to ask if will be in my bank within 14 days as I am off on holiday to my sons wedding on the 18th in Cyprus. A lovely gentleman advised that he would make sure it was in today for me!!! and it is!!! I cannot believe it, just in time.
Total time it has taken from me submitting my statments with schedule of charges on the 12th March to the Halifax is 5 weeks, so hang in there all, they will repay you!!
Thank you Halifax and thank you to Martin's website and all you guys for all your assistance.
Off for a brilliant holiday now.

Ever since got my offer, looked at bank every day hoping it would be in, I did ring last Monday, and was told by someone that sometimes it is taking longer due to backlog!! but could not believe how helpful the gentleman was today, I just asked if it would definatley be in by end of week? did not expect today!! but so so pleased as I really needed it for my holiday, no worries now. good luck and hope you do not have to wait long.:j :j  :T0 -
