I gave them the 40 days speal, and today (13/04/07), I received 117 pages of statements in like 26 different envelopes.
Yesterday I said I got 117 pages of statements in 26 envelopes, well guess what the postman brought today ............. hmmm..........yup, thats right, a duplicate set of statements, yup, again in 26 envelopes ........... deja vu :rolleyes:0 -
 hi both myself and a friend of mine are trying to get our money back off halifax! she sent her letter off about 4 weeks ago to ask for statments and received a list of charges thursday(12.03) I phones for mine about 27.03 and received 287 pages of statments in 50odd envelopes!!!!!!
some people seem to get money back after 1st letter while others got to start court procedings!! why can`t the banks sort themselves out this has been going out for months now! if the banks made some guide lines it would save them money and time they got to pay out in the end anyway!!!0 -

I am surprised banks Shareholders are not going bonkers at the total waste of their profits, in the way that banks handle claims. If I was a Shareholder I would be DEMANDING an economical system of handling them.0 -

It took 11 days to get my statements, and that included the Easter Holidays. I was cheeky, I did not send then the £10, nor did I get it taken out of my account.
I got 117 pages of statements in 26 envelopes, and believe it or not, I got exaclty the same the next day ........... doh, think of the postage :rolleyes:0 -
Can anyone help?
My oh has been offered full settlement of charges for a closed account that is in arrears. Halifax have said that they will pay it into his account but he has an agreement with them to pay off debt and has stuck to it. He has requested that they send him a cheque for the amount and hasn't heard anything yet, what do you think his chances are? I'll get you debts and your little dog too!!! :mad:And best of luck to all the other debt busters out there!!:beer:0 -

I have just had my letter of offer and it has taken around 26 days after requesting my money,,they are a lot better than other banks ie Lloyds TSB..
I got the full amount and they have not taken my overdraft back as yet.....
but we do have more than the overdraft every month we just went through a difficult patch ...dont give up but stick to your time scale not the banks..;)
Good luck0 -
I am with the Halifax, I requested my statements on 14th Feb, I got a letter the day after the 40 days as up to say that staements have been ordered for me and that I should recieve them within 10 days. Last Wednesday i recieved a letter from Halifax saing that they where offering me £20 settlement. I wrote to them saying that technically I hadnt actually made a complaint yet and that i was neither accepting or declining their offer becasue I hadnt had the opportunity to examine my statements yet. I sent letter twice, 1 recorded and 1 1st class. Just looked at my account and they have put the settlement in!! Yesterday, 2 pages of my statements came, but rest are missing ( from 2001 - 2004) phoned their data protection team, had to leave a messsage as they are too bust to talk, so far no one has got back to me. What now??? I havent agreed to this settlement and I havent signed anything.0

Ask politely if they can refund the charge. Tell them you're a good customer and this was a mistake or whatever the circumstances are.
If they say no and refuse to budge, you could step it up and tell them it would be very expensive for them if you had to go to court to reclaim. This should do the trick. If not, you'll have to start the process in the Step by step article.0
