halifax bank charges (merged)

Can anyone help?
My oh has been offered full settlement of charges for a closed account that is in arrears. Halifax have said that they will pay it into his account but he has an agreement with them to pay off debt and has stuck to it. He has requested that they send him a cheque for the amount and hasn't heard anything yet, what do you think his chances are?
If your OH is due the bank money then there is chance that they would pay of what he is due and then give him what is left.If I have been helpful - Hit the Thanks button0 -
Im just about to go through mcol for charges from the Halifax. My request has not included interest so far. Now im at this stage with no offer from them can I add interest now as part of my claim or do I need to stick to original claim amount with no interest?

My story so far guys/ladies
Middle of March this year I sent my 1st letter after receiving my statement and adding my charges up to £980 (including interest). Got the usual letter from Halifax blah blah 8 weeks to look into my claim. I then sent a 2nd letter on 1st of this month, they replied promising to get back to me before 3oth of this month. True to their word, received a letter today offering me £629. I will be calling them on Monday to ask for £880 as a final settlement figure.
From my experience, there is no need to fill a court claim as they are most likely to stick to their word. Whether they offer you the full amount is another matter.
Good Luck to the rest of you pursuing your bank charges claims0 -
couple of questions....
1) can i claim back charges incurred on my credit card? or is account charges only?
2) I have two accounts with the halifax (3 including the credit card), do i need to send the first letter 2(or 3) times or can i ask for all of the statements for the accounts at once?
any help much appreciated0 -
I have a closed a/c with the Halifax
I did request my statements from them including a £10:00 postal order.
After the 40 days were up, and I had not received any communication from them, I called their Customer Service dept, who took my details and said they would look into it.
Surprisingly, I have now received a spreadsheet with the Halifax logo on it, not statements, showing my total charges from 2003, totalling £322:00.
I am about to send in a prelim letter, asking for my money back, but it has got me thinking, as the Halifax has already totalled the amount they owe me, and without them sending statements, could I be owed more, and is it worth me requesting statements, or just issue the prelim letter, I have no idea how much my charges should come to, as I closed the account in 2005, although it would not be £1000.0 -
Yes you can but for the last six years.Hi there,
I had an account with Halifax since I was 16. Then in 2005 I was out of work for a few months and some direct debits went unpaid. Because of that I racked up a few hundred quid in charges that I couldn't pay, and after a couple more months the bank simply closed my account.
Can I still claim charges from this account for all the years I had it (if they closed it)?
thanx
sam.
