  • When i called the Customer complaints line i called a freephone number and got put through. I got the number of the saynoto0870 website 0800 3893456 and acted like i never knew it was the wrong number. They always put me through and it never cost me a penny to make the call so i didn't mind waiting really.

Can anyone help I am trying to contact Customer Relations department Halifax regarding my bank charges , however I have tried to call them about 20 times this week and end up being on hold each time for about 20 minutes - half an hour and still not getting through , Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone know of another contact number that can get me through , as after reading previous forums , some of you have said that you get straight through when telephoning , Its really getting frustrating now !!!

    Thanks
  • I too received a letter from the Halifax saying that I would have my statements by the 10th of April, guess what, I still haven't!! I did however manage to get the customer relations phone number from a very very helpful lady in the call centre. It is 08457 253519. You will have to wait in a queue for quite a while like I did today, but it was well worth the wait!! Another very very very helpful man told me that he would do the print out today just of all the charges for the last 6 years and he would send them out first class today, not only that but he advised me to send in the letter requesting the charges back before I'd even got the info as the claim would start from that date. He even gave me the fax number to do it even quicker, 08451281385. He also said that they can't keep up with the demand but the success rate is very good, in our favour I hasten to add. He said that they would acknowledge the request within 5 days and then it would take approx 8 weeks after that. He say that it might not take that long before the claim is settled, but it all depended on whether an 'agreement' was resolved. I now have new faith in fighting the good fight, hope you do too!!
  • Hi Need some advise please!!!
I received copies of statements from Halifax and the charges totalled at £1900  I then sent the copy letter from the website asking for this back (without interest) I received this letter today from them:-

I'm Sorry you have found it necessary to contact us regarding charges on your account. Like other organisations, HSBOS incurs additional costs when an item is returned or unpaid.
Rather than pass these costs on to unaffected accounts, charges are applied only to the account concerned, so we do not penalise our other customers. These charges only partially cover the costs we incur and compare favourably to our competitors, with this in mind I am unable to reverse the charges accrued.

The letter then goes on to say I can reply if not happy etc. The thing is THEY made us overdrawn each month and miss D/D, sometimes taking out 3 charges in a month! At £39 per charge I think that s more than enough to cover the costs they incur!! Please can someone advise whether I should now send the letter advising them that I will take this to court,I am scared of doing so as I'm worried that they will win and we will end up paying their court fees!

    Please HELP:eek: Thanks

Thank you so much for that last tip!!! I just phoned the Halifax and they're going to put a list of the charges in the post - no charge! at this point in time saving that £5 or £10 pounds is a huge bonus! I'll be back on at some point in the next 40 days when I receive that list.:T

  • If you take it to a small claims court you won't have to pay costs, providing you are in England or Wales.
  • I have just phoned Halifax and they have said they will send the breakdown in charges, but it takes 40 days, I told them that they have 40 days to get it to me not 40 days to get it together and the nice lady took it on board. I look forward to having a pile of paper from them. Apparently Halifax don't charge for this service.
  • Thanks gawain, so you think I should send the next letter from the website advising them of court action?

hi they give me a letter like that i sent them the threatening court letter step 4 by recorded delivery . Do not take any messin of them. I didnt it took about 7 weeks but got my money back its just a fob off
  • hi all i rang halifax today as the 14 days before court action ended earlier this week and asked how my claim was doing he replied by saying they have 8 weeks blah blah blah then said the 8 weeks is a guide line as they have so many people to deal with but it can take longer than the 8 weeks if need be, i said i shall start mcol tonight then and he even agreed for me to start court proceedings by saying it would be a better route for alot of people
strange a halifax employee suggesting me to start mcol unless he has already done this with his bank
