Halifax have said to me too they've got 8 weeks, shall I wait or proceed with the court action?, would appreciate any advice.
Thanks

Hi Pat,
My understanding is that you go with YOUR timescales i.e the ones outlined by Martin NOT the bank's. Hope that helps. Good luck.0 -
claimed £1519
Settled £1519 in full.
Got so fed up waiting for any kind of response to my complaint I called them.
The adviser told me an offer letter was on its
way for £900 (TOTAL JOKE!) which I of course declined, got a callback from a redress assessor (alternative name for a bean counter!) who settled in full no questions asked. Payment will be in my account in 14days!

I took my bank (Halifax) to court & they have filed an acknowledgement of service with the Court,'indicating an intention to defend all of the claim'. I have followed your guide to the letter, but what do I do now?0

Thanks for the advice.
Called them up this morning and spoke to a lady who once again tried to tell me that their practises have changed and they now send out a list of charges instead of bank statements. She couldnt explain tho how they cashed the cheque despite claiming to have not received it or why they also told me to put just £5 into my account to cover the costs.
She went on to advise that they are currently taking approx 6 weeks to send out statements. I replied that this is good news as they signed for my letter on 9th of march which gives them upto next thursday or so to send them out and if i didnt get them by this date I will be lodging a complaint with the data commissioner. A little taken back by this she said she will email the department involved to try to speed them up.
Hopefully this will have had some effect but i sincerely doubt it as i get a different story each time i speak to them.
Oh well.
Ill keep you all updated as plan to ring on monday to see if they have been sent by then
Well hello again,
after 5 weeks, 6 phonecalls and beig told my numerous lies, I got home from work today to a big fat envelope with 58 pages of statements in! only told them yesterday that was going to register complaint to data commissioner. Think this must have scared them into action so would recommend others use this tactic too.
Anyway, after a long hour with a calculator, iv totalled my charges to over 2200 and will tmrw be posting off martins letter to start the process in claiming it bacl. Wish me luck folks.

Please read the Step by Step guide, it states what can happen at this stage.0 -
Quite some time ago (not got the dates to hand) I sent the standard DPA request letter to Halifax PLC requesting a breakdown of charges for the last 6 years. On about day 47 they replied saying "copies of duplicate statements have been ordered"
This was at the start of October! On Monday I sent a further letter outlining the fact they had not complied with the DPA request and if I did not hear from them within 7 days I would be applying for a County Court Order
Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing with Halifax ?
Pete
The Halifax received my 1st letter 21/12/06. At the end of February 07 I got my statements. I have since sent them all the required paperwork & taken them to court - notice was served on them 28/3/07. I have todat had a letter from the court stating that Halifax have acknowledged the service & they 'indicate an intention to defend all of the claim'. I have no idea what to expect next, or what to do, but it has so far taken almost 4 months to get this far! (If anyone can give me advice on what happens next, I would be most grateful!)0 -

push it all the way, after reading so many diff stories i think its just ur luck who u get to deal with your case, they have prob been told by the bigwigs upstairs to try n fight it out and save as much as possible, dont give up hope, you will get your money soon
Cheers for that, I didn't really fancy losing the £120 that I'd paid for court charges anyway! Will let you all know how it's gone when I hear from them, hopefully the 24th April! :T0 -

Hi I also received a letter saying it would take 8 weeks I rang them and said that I wanted an answer before this or I would start court proceedings however they did not seem fazed by this and just told me I would have to wait as they were dealing with many requests. It might be worth you giving them a call though its worth a try . Good Luck !!0 -
Congratulations Lady Knight and rjb1123 and all those who have had a successful outcome with their claims. I am not going to settle for less than 50 pound of what i am asking.
I was offered £950 odd for a £1,555 claim but i will not accept. I was getting DLA back then and they were taking my DLA money that was meant for me. I think on these grounds alone that i am due all my money back.
So many posts here give me so much encouragement reading them.0
