I have since sent them all the required paperwork & taken them to court - notice was served on them 28/3/07. I have todat had a letter from the court stating that Halifax have acknowledged the service & they 'indicate an intention to defend all of the claim'. I have no idea what to expect next, or what to do, but it has so far taken almost 4 months to get this far! (If anyone can give me advice on what happens next, I would be most grateful!)
Hi
If you go on the original page where Martin's templates are and instructions on claiming , you will see his advice on what if the banks defend the claim. Hope your successful :money:0 -
Hi did this money include interest or without interest?
Thanksclaimed £1519
Settled £1519 in full.
Got so fed up waiting for any kind of response to my complaint I called them.
The adviser told me an offer letter was on its
way for £900 (TOTAL JOKE!) which I of course declined, got a callback from a redress assessor (alternative name for a bean counter!) who settled in full no questions asked. Payment will be in my account in 14days!

I have reclaimed bank charges to Halifax/Bank of Scotland for in excess of £6,000. I received a letter yesterday offering me a refund of £4,500, and I am unsure whether to accept this or not. Has anyone declined an offer from their bank and taken it to the next stage in the process in order to reclaim the full amount? I am so unsure as to what to do. I will be grateful for any comments on this matter.0

Hi
Phone them and tell them you want the full amount, in my experience there is no argument with them and they will adjust it for you to the full amount. thats what happened with me earlier this week!0 -
I recently accepted a £1,132 settlement from Halifax against a claim for £3,400 in charges over the last 3 1/2 years. I didn't want the hassle of going to court as I am pregnant. I realise now that my decision to accept was hasty and as they are continuing to charge me I would like to try and claim back ALL the charges. I am getting really upset about all of this and and 8.5 months pregnant. Does anyone think I have a chance? Is it even worth trying? How should I go about this? I would really appreciate any help advice that anyone has to offer.
Not much help to you really, 'cos I am in a similar position. I reclaimed over £6,000 of charges from Halifax and received a letter yesterday offering me £4,500 as a refund. Yes, it's a lot of money and not to be scoffed at, but I am still out of pocket by more than £1,500. I don't know whether to accept this or not. In your case, I would certainly be trying again, especially wth a new baby!0 -

Firstly a big thank you to every-one for all the advice and support....
I have just got the offer for the full amount of....£3,202.00 without interest..
i am so so pleased i have been so so worried..
a word of advice stick to your own time scale not the banks..:j :j :j :j
i have still got Lloyds tsb to sort out yet they got there notice of issue on the 6/04/07 not heard out yet???Also i have given Monument credit card a notice of issue but they put a acknowledgement in so they have until the 25/04/07 we shall see.....
Keep at it Halifax seem to be more easy to deal with than Lloyds...:T :T :T :T0 -
Yep - same here.
They said "we obviously won't be giving you the full amount back" and asked what I would accept as a compromise.
I reminded them that if it went further they would be liable for interest and court fees as well and they immediately gave me the full amount.
They seem to just try it on but as soon as they figure you know what you're talking about they give in.
Hope that helps.

ring them and say you wont accept any less than the total claim, they usually go off the line for a few minutes and come back with an "ok - money in account within 14 days".... if you look through some of the success stories for halifax this appears to be the norm... :rolleyes:0 -
I tried that today but so far they have only gone up to the amount of charges without interest. There was none of this going away to think about it and coming back to me. They offered me my full amount of money minus interest. I would like the interest as well so i have asked them to get somebody else to review my case and they will be getting back to me later on today.
I told them that i was on DLA back then and they were taking that money and i told they should not have but the person i spoke didn't seem to care less about that. If i had that money in my account i would have got interest on it that is what i said to them anyway.
I did ask my reviewer to write the name of the act down and give it to the person who will be calling me back later.
In my letter they offered me £955 for a £1,555 claim. I have now got them go up to £1,234 but i would like the full figure of £1,555 if i can.
It is just the luck of the draw who you get to speak to on the phone i think.markymoomoo wrote: »ring them and say you wont accept any less than the total claim, they usually go off the line for a few minutes and come back with an "ok - money in account within 14 days".... if you look through some of the success stories for halifax this appears to be the norm... :rolleyes:0
