  • I sent my 14 day letter to Halifax on the 16th of March and they received it on the 19th i just rang through to customer complaints and i was told that Halifax sent out a letter out to me on the 10th of April with a offer of £958 on a £1,555 odd claim.
I haven't got their letter yet but when i do i am not going to accept i will call them first and see if they are willing to give me my full money i am claiming if they don't then i will put it into writing to them.

 well after reading through the posts earlier and not being patient enough to wait for someone to respond to my post, i thought i would give them a call and a bit of bull$%£* too! told them that this offer of £1407.07 was quite lower than the amount i requested(with int), and asked whet could be done about it. she asked if i could wait until 2mora cause the person who sent me the offer isn't back till 2mora. Told her just waiting for wages to go into accout 2mora so i can pay my fee on mcol. She wanted to put me on hold told her that she could call me back when sorted out information on system. Calld back after about half hour and told me that the offer was low because they have taken out the amount i owed them before they closed my account, but still said she could up the offer to £1603.00 and recieve in next 14 days. I told her to send me the letter (as i already owe them over £2000 for a loan, thought i'd better not push them too much). anyhow i do feel quite happy now. just need to send off my second letter to abbey now and hope i get a good outcome like today.

    Hi,
Just a bit of quick advice needed if that's ok.
I have two Halifax accounts. In Feb 07 I claimed £332 from one account and it was repaid into the other account. The letter said that if I made any future claims my account would be closed. Not sure if they meant the account I claimed against or the one they paid the money into or both ! Anyway, have received my bank statements from the account I haven't claimed from before (but that the money was paid into !) and I could claim about £400 against it from the last six years.
    QUESTIONS:
Can I claim against a second account ? (I assume that if I claim a second time they will be likely to close the accounts ?)
Will they also close all other accounts ? I have the children's accounts with them (although I manage them as children still small).

    Many thanks
  • Hi folks,

I am currently in the process of moving my business banking from the Nat West to the Halifax (3yrs free business banking).

However, will I still be entitled to claim any monies owing to me once I have left the Nat West... Or does my claim, simply end there?

    Can anyone advise?

P.S I'm currently still within the 40 days to respond scenario and the clocks ticking before I leave the Nat West.

I am helping a friend reclaim her bank charges as she doesn't have internet access. I am new to this as I have none of my own to reclaim. She already has her bank statements for the last 5 years (she has only been with them 5 years) and has been through and worked out what they owe her in bank charges. My question is, does she still have to write and ask for the list of charges and send a tenner cheque, or can she just write to them and say she wishes to claim back £x of charges incurred. Thanks.

No the cheque is for the admin involved in getting your statements, If you already have them go straight to step 2 of the process. Good Luck

Just wanted to tell you my update so far.

Followed all the steps from asking for my statements to asking them to pay me my money back and threatening them with court. Halifax owe me £2788.29 without interest. never got a reply from them, then i rang them 2 times asking why they have not replied when i gave tham 14 days, they said they had 8 weeks to respond to my complaint. Which would of made it the 13th March. Yesterday got a letter from them (shock) refunding me £2383.00. this is a couple of hundred short for what i asked for. i will be phoneing them on monday to ask why i havent got the full amount. but im really considering taking what they have offered me.

    Hi Suzy,

Halifax have said to me too they've got 8 weeks, shall I wait or proceed with the court action?, would appreciate any advice.
    Thanks

    Pat
