You cannot claim charges from more than 6 years ago under the Limitation Act. Try it and you will lose the lot.

HALIFAX acknowledged my claim the day after it was issued - that was fast!!!. My H is going through the court for Barclays and they acknowledged on the last possible so I was surprised by the Halifax. I am only claoming a couple of hundred quid - does this mean I should see a cheque in the post soon then? Lets hope so!!!!!

I am reclaiming bank charges of £956.00 from Halifax. They made an offer by letter of £856.00. I agreed and payment was to be paid into my account 14 working days after the acceptance had been received. I telephoned them two days ago to be told that they are behind and it would be another a week. Is there anything I can do? Has anyone else come across this? Do you think we can claim any interest? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi

I would give them the extra week they quoted you, if you still have nothing then write to them again asking what's going on, perhaps enclosing a copy of their offer letter.

As for interest, I would forget it! a) they'll say no, and b) the interest on £856 over 1 week will be negligible!!

I know it's irritating and you can't wait to get your mits on the cash but I can imagine they're extremely busy with claims at the moment and your turn will come.

    Hope you get paid soon

    Regards

Thanks for reply. My biggest concern is that they won't pay up. I have gone a step further with another claim with another lender and now wonder whether it would have been more effective doing it with the Halifax. Only time will tell. Fingers crossed.... Will keep you posted.
