sent our letter to halifax to asking for the charges giving the the 14 days however had a letter today saying it will take upto 8 weeks as this is what the financial services authority allow them is this ok or do i send a letter stating the have 14 days and 14 days only?

    maka me old mucker

step one you are the boss therefore they play by your rules and times, i received this letter and as explained b4 many times you must call the shots not them. They are stalling you and expecting you to sit back and wait, well dont send template 4 letter i think in which it states that ( delete as appropriate ) that you are not satisfied with the response and you will commence court action in 14 days

go for it and dont be scared there are many ppl who have succeeded

there is a risk but the majority wont go to court

also halifax are struggling to keep up with customers reclaims and are even working over bank holiday to catch up!!! lol haha :T

if you check consumeraction groups website it has a table of banks for being reclaimed against and guess what!!!!!!!

halleluyah!!! My money has finally gone in! Only a day late. Thank you everyone who offered advise and good luck to everyone else who is claiming. Keep at it! You will win!! Off on a spree now! Becky.
  • Well the banks 8 weeks are up on Monday. I am claiming over £4500 in total over 4 accounts. This morning a letter arrived relating to one of those accounts. I have claimed £326.81 including interest and they have offered me £180. Needless to say I already have my 'thanks but no thanks' letter ready to send off. The other three letters will no doubt arrive on Monday and I have the 'thanks but no thanks' letters ready and waiting to be mailed. I will update you on Monday as to the offers they have made and the progress I am making.

    Fingers crossed.
  • Hi
I sent my letter to HBOS back in February asking for a breakdown of my charges. To date I have received nothing. Popped into a city centre branch last Thursday armed with the dates of statements required (going back to 2004) Chap in branch ordered these statements FOC there and then, told me it could take up to 1 week - didn't really hold out much hope as I was honest with him why I wanted them. Low and behold i received them this morning. Let the reclaim begin. I have both a credit card balance and an overdraft with HBOS both are no longer in use. Not sure if I should ask for any reclaimed money to be used against these balances as this would be the ideal outcome to clear these debts. Has anyone done this? Did they settle any quicker? Any advice greatfully accepted.

I haven't pushed through my claim but i am now at the online claim point and i am wondering whether i should drop the older claims now outside the 6 year period. I have sent both letters to Barclays including them but i haven't had a response from them. I don't want to mess up over a technical point.

Hello, hope your well, This is my first post and need a little bit of help in getting my bank charges back from the Halifax just need to know the next step!!!

I have reqested all my charges for the last 6 years from the Halifax which they have replied to and sent me all my Statments.

I then sent them a letter stating that i request them to repay all the default charges that have been applied to my account etc etc , i then told them i looked foreward to a full response within 14 days.

The halifax then reponded with "Thank you for your recent complaint. We are sorry to learn that you are unhappy with the charges to your bank acccount. Please note that the Finacial Services Authority, gives us 8 weeks to investigate and respond to complaints.

Our commitment to you is that we will respond to your complaint at the earliest possbile oppertunity. However we want to enusure the issues you riased are thoroughtly investigated, if for any reason we are unable to repsond fully to your concerns with in the next 4 weeks we will write to update you of our progress"

What do i need to do next ???

    Tar Mick

Act as soon as the 14 day period is up, send the second letter.

    Ignore the stalling tactics.
