halifax bank charges (merged)

Hi, i have never used this site before but have read some advice that people have given, this urged me to get statments from halifax bank, they only took a week to arrive, so i went threw them all and turns out i only had 5 charges in the last 3 years but with interrest this totals £200, i know it's not much compared to some peoples but as a single parent of 2 small kids this is a lot of money!
anyway enough about me, i just wondered if anyone could tell me how long to wait before sending letter about court to the bank?
i sent the first one asking for my charges and interrest back and got a reply today saying; they were sorry to hear about my complaint but they have 8 weeks! to investigate and respond to complaints. but they will be back in touch in 4 to update me.
can they do this or should i still send the second letter after 14 days of sending the first one?
thanks for reading this hope someone can help me!
dawn read my reply earliaer on yesterday it was!
you
dictate the timescale not the bank if you go to step 4 i think you ll see a template for you to sent saying in part of it you are not happy with response so send the letter asap stating you will commence court proceedings within 14 days
dont be scared im at the stage your at but i sent the letter soon as i got the 8 weeks letter blah blah go for it dawn!0 -

Hi Dawn1979,
Don't wait, send your second letter after the 14 days. Stick to your timetable not theirs.

hi, i have sent my 2nd letter to the halifax requesting payment or i will start the court action. it has been 7 working days and i have had no response. has anyone been to this stage with the halifax and got any tips or can anyone help me with any tips to start the court proceedure?
i have only had one letter from the halifax and that was to say they would respond to my claim but this could take up to 8 weeks. this letter came from the customer support centre so do i use this address when starting the court process. any tips would be great thanks!!!!!0 -
I have just rang and have been told by a really nice lady that there is a note on my file saying that its being dealt with, but it could still be a couple more days. She apologised profusely, which kinda messed up my angry speech!!! Although I did find out that they are working this weekend, as there is such a backlog, so I'm gonna ring them again tomorrow!! Will keep you updated. Becky
Becky, just rec'd mine into account. a team leader called Matthew rang me back at 2.30 and assured me it would be in by close of business, was giving him till 4.30 but just checked and it was in.0 -

Hi, just an update on where I am (or am not) with my claim against HBOS
Wrote asking for refund of £7,402 of charges on 2 March 2007. Received an automated complaints reply letter two weeks later - saying the standard, we will take up to eight weeks to reply.
Sent the LBA on 18 March 2007.
Today received another holding letter - dated 2 April 2007, saying 'we're still investigating your complaint, and you will receive a response from us as soon as possible, but certainly no later than 3rd May 2007.'
I now need to file with MCOL, but have had to delay as the value of my claim makes the Court costs too much for me to pay till the end of April. I will however keep you posted and let you know if I hear anything more.
I am in the same postion as you,
I got the same letter today from HBOS, I am claiming over £2500 and to be honest I can't afford the court fees this month. I am considering just holding off until the 3rd at the latest.
When I spoken with a lovely lady @ HBOS she basically said everyone is getting there charges back but there is a delay.
I will def keep all updated and please keep us updated with your progressIf I have been helpful - Hit the Thanks button0 -
