halifax bank charges (merged)

Hi, I just wondered if the halifax has credited your account yet? I phoned them again today, but as my 14 working days is not up until tomorrow they will not do anything. So i have decided that if its not in my account by 12 tomorrow I am gonna phone them and say that if its not in my account by the close of business i will reject the offer and file for court. Surely it cant take this long to put money in!!! Becky
I rang yesterday and was told it would be in acct yesterday, it wasn't so I rang today and they said that the girl had said it would be today, not yesterday. Rang this afternoon and spoke to a manager, the girl I spoke to this morning hadn't even logged the account, so they didn't know i'd rang. The manager said that she would email the payments dept for me and see if they can push it through because i had been messed about so much. It's still not in my account and this manager said that they are going a few days over the 14 days, so not much luck. I did manage to get a direct number off the discussions website which is 01422 333880. Will keep you posted.0 -
If you have the patience......and time then I would deal with them strictly in writing using recorded/special delivery and avoid telephone contact.
I would also follow the steps strictly on this site and do not let the bank or its employees dictate the way your claim is going.
Well, decided to call them first thing this morning, the tel. no. was direct to a manager who explained once again that due to the amount of people claiming, to speed up the process, they wont be sending statements and will contact me asap with a figure of how much iv paid n charges over last six years and if im satisified, they will have 8 weeks to pay this into my account. Agreed to let him proceed with this method as genuily seemed like he wanted to help but i am still deeply suspicious as no one else seems to be going down this route. if anyone has recently requested statments, ie in last week or so, can you let me know whats happening with your case as im confused about why my case seems so special.
Fingers crossed tho that this is the way forward for the banks as seems a lot quicker than going thru all the 40 days, 14 days, 14 days etc routine.
Ill keep you all informed0 -
Poop, posted on the wrong Halifax thread - please can someone advise:)nuttyrockeress wrote: »I am looking for help please.
OH and I are in the process of making a claim through Halifax.
We sent the 1st and 2nd letters (without reqeusting interest) and received a settlement after the 2nd letter. We were reqeusting £407 (this is as I said minus the interest) and were offered £246 (or thereabouts).
I want to pursue the claim further for the full sum and interest if possible.
Do i now write the letter that says thanks for the offer which we accept in the interim, however we intend to claim the full amount through the court. At this stage do I go to Money claim also? If not, what do I do now? Do I have to writ eback to Halifax and say the offer is not acceptable, we want the full amount including intrest and give them another 14days?
Thanks so much in advance, we are getting married in September so this will help us muchly! It's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice0 -
Im still waiting on my statements. I got a letter last week saying that they would be here within 10 days. Then I got a letter offering me £20!! yesterday, I wrote back to them (recorded delivery of course!!) telling them that I am neither accepting or declining their offer since I still dont have my statements yet!!, but I know my charges total more than £20!!....they must think we're all daft or something!!!0

Hi, I think some people are phoning the halifax for their statements. They are only getting charged £5 and I think they are coming in a reasonable time. Hope this helps, Becky.0 -
Hi,
First post but I was so relieved I thought now was time for the first one!
I have two Halifax accounts, one joint with my missus and my own. I wrote a cheque for £250 but out of the wrong account, my own! This took me £40 over my overdraft limit for one day before I noticed. I immediately transfered over funds from the joint account to take me back into the black but feared the worst, £58 fine for being overdrawn for one day! Then followed the obligitory electronic letter of £30 charge and £28 additional charge.
I phoned up the Halifax and spoke to a nice chap who said he could see the mistake, was happy I had transferred money straight in to cover the excess, the fine was unjust and would cancel it. All in a 5 minute phone call, I wasn't expecting that! Certainly put a smile on my face! Now for a 4 day weekend!
Good luck all0 -

PLEASE HELP.... I have accepted an offer £100 less than I was reclaiming from the Halifax. They agreed by letter to send payment within 14 working days. I telephoned them today and they advised me that they cannot keep to the timescale and are one week behind as there are so many people reclaiming!!! Is there anything I can do? Has anyone been in the same situation? Thanks0
