all you guys out there have hope, I have just been on the phone to customer relations regarding my offer, told them I was not happy with my offer, they very nicely came back to see if I would accept £1,600 I told them if they made it £1,700 I would take no further action RESULT put me through to finances and it is being processed to go to my bank within 14 days. So it will happen hold in there, as I say this happened on only my second letter to them telling them I was going to commence court action within 14 days.
Celebration time, thank you all your help on here brilliant site  :j :T

I agree, this seems to be the norm with halifax. Send them the next letter, work to your timescale. not theirs. Becky

just send them the next letter. :)

In my first letter, i gave them a deadline of 14 days and that i would issue without any further notice.

Worth another letter do you think or give them a call?

You can try, but dont be too hopeful. We rang and they more or less said we will pay when we are ready. Ours has gone to court and we are still waiting to be paid.

Ok cheers - i think ill send another letter then. Do i stick to my inital deadline of 14 days? or give them another 7? Being a debt recovery paralegal, we tend to give the second letter 7 days before we issue

Just an update for everyone, the latest tactic ....

I've just telephoned Halifax to see where I am with their replying to me, been told on numerous occasions about the 8 wk wait scenario. The date they gave me for answer was 27th April, I'm now being told that's a fictional date and that they could well send out another letter on that day saying they need further time.

Halifax are saying they are inundated with claims and cannot cope with the back log. According the a snotty lady today they are still dealing with people prior to my application (28th February)....Halifax: my heart bleeds - stop stalling and repay people what you owe!

I have papers in the at the County Court now unfortunately next hearing dates not until June.
We will win this! we will!.... and we did! :j :p

Ive just called the Hlaifax and spoken to a customer services manager who has advised me that due to volumes of workload they are working through everything in date order and it is going to take until the end of the month until they can send me a full response to me claim.

I have sent the second letter - which gave them 14 days before I began court action (the 14 days expires today) and the lady on the phone, who was very pleasant actually... advised me that I am fully within my rights to begin court action, thought it is highly likely to take a similar length of time before I recoup anything - if I indeed do.

So.... what do I do now? Sit it out and wait until May 1st to gett heir full response? or initiate the court action?

Can anyone help? Im a bit bemused by all this

    Thank-you x

    Hi All

Just to ask if anyone else has received the following type of letter from the halifax?:
I've sent 3 letters, 1 asking for statements, 2nd first time asking for charges back, 3rd one again asking for charges back which stated that for a set amount I'd leave there and progress no further to court. I got a standard reply stating that I'd have to wait 8 weeks for the outcome, thats why I sent the 3rd letter to them. I have recevoed the following reply:

"Further to your letter dated 9th March 2007. I'm Sorry that you have not yet had a full response to your concerns.
We're still investigating your complaint and will recieve our response asap, but certainly no later then 1st May 2007.
Our complaints leaflet which we sent you previously, explains how we will handle your complaint."

I take it now I just get the court papaers issued and hopefully get my charges back?

This is the exact same letter I received on 27th March giving me a date of 27th April, but what they are saying now is that's just a fictional date and are well within their rights to write to us on that date and say they need more time!.. I've just come back from the court with my papers I'd advise you to do the same :D
