halifax bank charges (merged)

Hi all.. I'm past my second letter and rang Halifax today, again told they have til 27th April to sort out my matter (8 wks blether), I warned them I'm taking them to court but as such I haven't got 240.00!!!..
If Edingburghlass is around, can you please answer me this, are they delaying us with the view that all will change in April with regard to charges, should I wait until 27th April saving myself 240.00 or should I borrow and press ahead with court action?
Thanks
MagaWe will win this! we will!.... and we did! :j

Check out the Reclaim Help Thread regarding the court costs and any exemptions you may be entitled to.
All of the banks are just busy and hence the standard, holding letters going out saying we'll be back to you in 4/8 weeks etc. Do you have 2 claims that you mention £240 court costs?0 -

i sent the first letter to my own branch with a £10 cheque maid out to halifax plc, I got the cheque back within 2 days and was told it was being passed to the dept that dealt with it,there was no charge at this time and few days later I got a letter saying the charge is £5 i then phoned them up and told them to take the charge out of each account...and my statements should be in the post as we speak0 -

Just a quick query. In everyones experience, how long roughly do Bank of Scotland take to send out bank statements? I sent my letter requesting them on 21 February and, as yet, haven't heard a thing from them. They haven't even cashed my cheque.
I realise I am still within the 40 day period for them sending them out, I am just curious as to whether they usually take the full 40 days or not.
Thank you in advance.
Just to update.
The bank cashed my cheque today, by my reckoning the statutory 40 days are up on the 4 April, giving them 5 working days to get the statements out to me. Looks like they are going to leave sending them out as long as possible. Maybe stalling to see what the OFT fas to say about people reclaiming their bank charges?0 -
Hi everyone,
A bit of advice please.
I sent the 2nd letter to Halifax 14 days ago, so the deadline is up today for me to send the next letter, I was just wondering I havn't mentioned interest in any letters so far, but can I send the letter threatening court action WITH INTEREST, even though I haven't used the interest letters before.
P.S Congrats to all those who have had their money back.

A default judgement was issued to Halifax for £1423 yesterday, today the money has appeared in my account.
I cannot believe this actually happened, and am so happy right now - I'll be using £1000 of it to cancel the £1000 overdraft I have been living out of for the last 6 years, and using the rest to pay a few others debts and also buy something nice for my girlfriend
SO HAPPY
Is there any way we can donate to the website via paypal or something? I really would like to make some kind of contribution because of all the help I've received. If it wasn't for this website I would still be exactly where I've been for the last 6 years0
