halifax bank charges (merged)

This is the first time I have posted on this site.
Basically I have sent the first letter requesting bank charge statements from the Halifax. Was sent on 25 Feb along with £10 Cheque. Have received no reply as yet and found that they had only just cashed the cheque today. They have until 5 April before I start hounding them with phone calls!! (Just as they have a habit of harrassing you when you miss a payment!!!!!) They are cutting it a bit fine timewise!
My husband has done the same with his bank (Clydesdale) and he received an acknowlegdement letter saying that they had received the cheque for £10 and that they had 40 days in which to send the info he requested. (Both letters were sent on the same day)
It would have been nice if the Halifax could actually send a similar letter to myself so that I knew that they had recieved my request.
Will keep you updated as we go along.
Have also encouraged my in-laws to take up this process as well. Will keep you posted on their progress.Have been DEBT FREE for 4 years and staying that way :T0 -
I posted my letter to Halifax on 9th March with £10 cheque but didn't send special delivery (didn't have the cash), heard nothing yet (haven't even cashed cheque) - what do I do now? If I havn't heard anything in 30 days do I send a reminder?

Also does the 40 days start once they have cashed the cheque? Please help0 -
Hi guys
Just a quick query. In everyones experience, how long roughly do Bank of Scotland take to send out bank statements? I sent my letter requesting them on 21 February and, as yet, haven't heard a thing from them. They haven't even cashed my cheque.
I realise I am still within the 40 day period for them sending them out, I am just curious as to whether they usually take the full 40 days or not.
Thank you in advance.0 -

I initially sent a letter requesting statements from them at the begining of march but got fed up waiting so I phoned them and they arrived within a week. "I'm Just A Demin Boy"

Hi all, when I requested my statements it took 3 weeks, I claimed over £2000, over 2 weeks ago they offered as a good will gesture £546; of course I turned them down. Replied reducing the total amount by 15%, explained that that amount would be accetable, said if I hadnt received a reply within 14 days (that is today) i woud be taking them to court. Havent hear will waite a few more days, as they are not known for their speed.
In all the process has taken 3 months from the initial asking for statements.0 -
