Hi all would be grateful for some advice - I sent my list of charges to the local branch initially on the 10th Feb, no response, sent the second letter again to the local branch on the 1st Mar this was returned with a compliment slip(???!) saying pay us £10, I refused and took the letter by hand to my local branch.... heard nothing so initiated court proceedings which were served to the Halifax on the 21st Mar. Today in the post I have received my second letter, with the list of charges, again asking for £10 to forward the letter! Which now means Halifax do not have a list of charges as quoted in the summons, help what do I do now??? And is it coincidental that my letter was returned the day after they were issued with the summons?????0

Hi I have been made an offer from Halifax on 2 accounts that was for the full amount I asked for. I sent the acceptance letter on the 16th March, so yesterday decided to chase them. Took ages to get though and when spoke to an customer manager was told that they are so busy, it is taking them around 14 days to send the money out or in my case to transfer to my account which the are seeming to keep open, but these will shortly be closed after receipt by me!
Have sent a fax complaining to them about this, pointing out that as they have made the offer surely all they have to do is press a few buttons to transfer - will let you know when I get the money back!!!!!!0 -
Hi me again keeping you updated, I have today received the standard '8 week to investigate letter' from the halifax after sending my claim for bank charges on the 12th March giving them 14 days to respond, their 14 days are up on Sunday 25th March. I decided to ring them today to give them a push! but I got the same blah blah blah blah 8 weeks to investigate rubbish, when I said that I intended to take court action to reclaim my money she repeated herself. I ended the call saying I would be sending them a second letter on Monday to advise I intend to take them to court.
I go away on 18th April for 2 weeks and concerned on the timescale, can you choose your court date if it comes to that? how long do I need to give them on my second letter before taking court action?
Good Luck to all in claiming and CONGRATULATIONS to those who have been refunded :beer:0 -
Sent the charges letter off on 13th March, received the 8 week letter today - off to complete the step 4 letter now.
Thank goodness for this site, makes things so much easier0 -
I spoke to the Halifax last night... as this is really the first step for me... I am only just about to send off my letter requesting copies of bank charges.
The guy at the Halifax was helpful but said to me that I could expect a delay of around 40 days? but, they would almost certainly be making me an offer if it was found that I had incurred over charges. Thanks
Deb

Just had a call from OH who opened a letter from Halifax received today offering full refund of all charges. May only be £88 in total but it all helps toward reducing the o/draft!!
Only took two letters (both from templates and sent to local branch), and approx 6 weeks.
Thank you Martin and MSE's.There is always light within the dark0 -
