halifax bank charges (merged)

Hi everyone
Not sure if this is the right place to post this message???
I spoke to the Halifax last night to check how much I needed to send in order for them to send me my last 6 years worth of statements/charges.
I originally thought it was £10 however the man I spoke to said that the charge was £5 and they would take it out of my account.
Does anyone else know if this is correct or would this be stalling tactics from their point of view?
Many thanks in advance,
DebbieThanks
Deb

If it is £5 for the last 6 years data then thats great and saved you a fiver BUT I would check that it is actually for the last 6 years data and not £5 per copy statement or you could find a ton of these charges going on your account. Sort this out asap. A SAR (Subject Access Request) under the Data Protection Act statutory fee is £10 and this is what you want and how to word it.
Double check before they raid the account.
Good luck0 -

i can confirm it is £5 for the last 6 years statements and yes they took it out of my account directly, much quicker than waiting for them to cash your cheque etc, in fairness to halifax though i'm not sure how debiting the money and sending statements straight out could be seen as a stalling tactic.......that comes later when you make the claim

I got my statements yesterday (after a not so long wait) But BOS have only sent me from May 2004,still I have used the calculator and have worked out that they owe me 2500 on one account and 2980 on the other .Which shocked me and made me really angry , one month the charges mounted to £390 .its no wonder my finances went belly up ! Just wondering if it is worth going on and asking for the rest of my statements ,as small claims court in scotland only works up to £750. Can someone advise me?0

I would split the amount and do separate claims so for instance put in an initial claim for 2001 - 2003 and 2004 - 2007?
Thanks for this jellybugs -the situation has changed somewhat since I carried out some further investigation of the matter. Where I live (Northern Ireland) the maximum amount you can claim in a small claims court is £2000 (not the £5000 originally quoted). So now the situation is that there are approx £4900 (not including interest) worth of charges so I will probably be best to claim for individual years.
Does anyone with a legal background know if I can file simultaneous claims for each year or do I have to wait until one claim is settled before filing another?
Would I be better to employ the services of a solicitor and go to a higher court with the assumption that the Halifax will pay my legal costs if and when I win?0
