Hi, like all of you,i have just reclaimed my bank charges from the Halifax. My initial total to receive back £2,200, they have now offered me £1,270.I am at a dilemma whether to accept this or not? any advice from anyone, would be much apreciated.thanks kelly0

Kelly, I am sure I have read somewhere that you should be looking at an 80% offer which works out to be £1760 - however only you will know if you are happy deep down with this offer.
I am not sure what happens if you decline an offer.. will they offer a higher amount?
Also, can anyone just confirm for me where I need to send my £5 for the statements too... is it my branch where I opened the account or a central office?
Thanks,
DebThanks
Deb

If u ring 08457203040 you can request your statements over the phone and they debit your account there and then. They will tell you they have a back log, but it tokk just a week for both mine and my BF to come through.0 -

Hi Kells,
Glad to hear your are actually at the stage where the Halifax has made an offer.
When I calimed my charges back the Halifax rang me rather than wrote to make the offer, at first they offered only 50% of my claim but I stuck to my guns and told them I would not settle for less than the full amount, it took 30 secs for them to give in! At the end of the day its up to you if your happy or not, but it could be worth a call to them to re-negotiate and make your decision whilst on the phone :-)0 -
