Don't go by their timescales - stick to your own

Thanks for reply, I'm going for it .. I might try and get another card cash account raised with someone else ijust in case they cancel my account
As for charging more charges for .. yes its true .. it makes me mad
Whilst I'm here can I also bend your here and moan about this
About 18 months ago I had some cash to pay in £500.00 (wow) :j .. went to the counter of my local branch and was told they do NOT accept any cash over the counter from Card Cash holders  .. If I had a current account they would take it over the counter  .. So I was directed like a leper to where they had a bundle of envelopes and I had to put the money in two envelopes (max £250 per envelope) fill out my bank account details -- post it through a letter box where it would be collected that evening and credited to my account the following day  ... DISCRIMINATION or what ??
Oh yes when your down, they kick you down even further :embarasse
Oh my God.... It gets worse! You poor thing how cruel, no one deserves that.
No that sounds completely ridiculous. I've never heard of that anywhere else, not accepting cash. It also sounds like the staff in your local halifax not only need to look at their policy but also take a few lessons in common manners and customer service!
As I said my credit sounds just as barrel scraping as yours, so fear not you're not alone!
My card cash account is with Barclays is completely basic and apart fromthe fact I have a Visa Electron instead of a Visa Delta, it's identical to a full current account. I pay exactly the same in charges if I'm bad and I can certainly pay in cash over the counter, and I have to say, although I'm chasing them for money, the branch staff have always been totally polite and helpful.
I would say you should really look at moving and even with your credit you should still be able to get a basic card cash account. I also have one with LLoyds that is empty but there in case Barclays close mine after all this reclaiming and I've spoken to someone at Nationwide who says a basic account is no problem, but yes that's all I'd be allowed. With both of those I've never seen anything about restrictions on paying in money or higher charges, you just don't get a full debit card or overdraft.
Good luck, don't let them keep treating you like this is my advice.0 -
The 40 days are up on Tuesday and to date theres no response from Halifax with details of my charges. Ive twice wrote to them telling them the 40 days is nearly up. What next ???0

hi, I am just at stage 1. Im starting to think I may have missed the boat on this one! Im afraid the banks will come up with a defence soon. However I will have a go
I will be submitting an estimated demand to HALIFAX based on 4 months statements that I have, I have been charged 4 x Returned Direct Debit Totalling 156 quid. This works out at 2808. Has anyone else had experience at how Halifax handle estimated claims? Or should I wait the 40 days till my 6 year statements come.
