Gave up begining of last week and hand delievered another letter to my local branch, which they gave me a reciept for. Do you think i should ring halifax to make sure the request is going through as the cheque has still not been cashed yet?
Thanks
they just took £5 directly out of my account for my statements.... see if they can return the cheque and do this for you that way you wont have to wait for them to cash it...0 -

Thanks i have done it that way now. I was doing myself out of money by the way that i calculated the interest before as i calculated 8% on top of the charges sum. Going through all this again i am owed £1,234 without interest and £1,534 with interest. This money is very welcome and it will buy me a new laptop that i need. The Customer Relations Department in Leeds is the Department that are actually dealing with the reclaiming of Bank Charges. You can sent your initial letter to Trinity Road, but they will just forward it to Leeds.
I did enclose a list of all the charges and the dates they were incurred. I done it this way to try to reduce the amount of time I'd have to wait. Didn't want them to write back to me and say 'what charges are you relating to'.0 -
My 40 days is up a week on Tuesday 27th March, so Im gonna send them another letter telling them that the 40 days is up on 27th March and that they are not allowed 8 weeks under the Data Protection Act.0

That number is for an office in Chester and she aint pleased ....
Hi Degs
Customer Relations telephone no in Leeds is 0845 603 7923
Keeping all up to date with my scenario, I sent my Claim for Charges again, which were originally sent to Trinity address on 12th March, to Customer Relations address yesterday, they were signed for today. I phoned them to ensure they had me on the system and they told me yes and that they also had my original letter that had been sent to Trinity address and was logged on their system 14th March, told me I will receive an acknowledgement letter in the next few days, this I guess will be the 8 week to investigate one? but I WILL REGARDLESS on the 26th send my court action letter I WILL HAVE MY MONEY BACK !!
GOOD LUCK TO ALL X0 -

I have just got off the phone to costumer relations in Leeds, the correct telephone number is: 08457253519 and then you need option 2 but if you are left on hold constantly in the queing system then phone again this time selecting option 1, ask for the department that is dealing with requests for the refund of bank charges and they will transfer you internally, these calls seem to get answered quicker.
It wasn't good news for me I'm afraid, they have denied receiving my letter even though I have a signature and they say they have nothing on their system indicating that i am unhappy with my charges. I made it perfectly clear when i requested my statements that i was unhappy with the charges and that i would be pursuing a claim against them. Anyway the lady said I could fax a copy of the letter through to them and this is the fax number should it be any use to anyone, Fax No: 08451281385. I also asked her to clarify the address that letters should be sent to, it is:
CUSTOMER RELATIONS
HALIFAX PLC
PO BOX 548
LEEDS
LS1 1WU
Good luck all0 -
